Whump drabbles : Kaidan
I – Bedridden
Kaidan groaned as he struggled miserably to prop himself up on one elbow before sinking back onto the pillow. Lucien reprimanded him, telling him to calm down because he was burning with fever. He made it clear to the colossus that he would not leave this bed as long as he was not recovered.
"I'll bet 100 septims it's from an infected wound."
Kaidan looked away in response, muttering that it was going to cost a fortune to keep him in an inn bed all this time.
"Then it's fortunate my wealth is useful. But please, don't be stupid, you need to take care of yourself."
II – Stifled Scream
The Thalmor wizard wanted to break him. He used a whip, he used destruction magic, he tortured him until the skin of his back was tearing and bleeding. Until his legs collapsed under him, letting him suspended by his wrists. By the Nine, it hurted ! Kaidan clenched his teeth to stifle his screams. He wouldn't let Cyrelian have this victory. Even if his teeth shatter, he wouldn't let out a cry, a plea or a pain scream. Kaidan would rather die a curse on his lips than allow the Thalmor get the pleasure of his screams. (98)
III - « I said I'm fine »
« Steady on there, Kaidan. You’ve lost a bit of blood. »
Kaidan sighed, a little annoyed, replying to Lucien he was fine. The cut wasn’t that deep, even if the blood smeared on his whole leg. He knew Lucien was just worried about him. He always was. About everyone. As if the team wasn’t worried for this milkdrinker, so fragile and clumsy. The Imperial brandished a health potion in front of his face.
« I said I ’m fine. »
Kaidan’s voice was a bit harsher this time. It wasn’t the first his first wound. He would get through it. (102)
IV – Escape Attempt
His breathing was rough in his chest, he had to be quick despite his wounds. But Kaidan was out of the Thalmor’s hands for now. He’s got more or less the layout of the abandoned prison memorized. He knew the exit would be a few more meters after this corner. And there they were. Kaidan tried to ram the elves out of his way but he was too weak. He staggered back, gasping and looking with horror as his jailers were ready to shock him with their magic.
« Well, well, looks like our rat got out of its cage. », Cyrelian said with a smile. (105)
V – Explosion
They hadn't seen the rune on the ground. Kaidan advanced at the head of the group at a good pace in these ruins until the explosion was triggered. One step inside the magical circle was enough, and everyone was brutally blinded by the explosion and thrown against the walls of the crypt. Kaidan felt his lungs suddenly emptied before he felt the painful bite of the stone against his back. The flames had briefly licked his face, leaving an abominable burning smell in their wake. His ears were ringing painfully. Everything around him was dusty and blurry. (98)
VI - « It's not as bad as it looks »
He’d gotten a nice gash on his forehead, from the sharp claws of a sabre cat. Blood had streaked down Kaidan’s face, adorning it with a sticky crimson mask, drowning out his tattoo and blending with the color of his eyes. When Lucien saw him like this, he squealed in horror, both at his friend’s bloody appearance and at the presumption of the seriousness of his wound.
“Don’t worry. It’s not as bad as it looks. The wound isn’t deep, the forehead is just a place where the bleeding is profuse.”, he explained to the Imperial. (102)
VII – Fall
The icy path in the Velothi Mountains stretched before them, treacherous and slippery. Each step could lead to a fall and the group was carefully walking in silence, their breath forming a mist in the frigid air. Kaidan stepped on a frozen rock, and the misstep happened. Losing his balance from the top of his imposing build, he fell below, his body hit by the fir trees that adorned the hillside. His schout echoed in the mountain and to this cry answered the cries of all his friends, horrified at his fall. They could see him lying below, a dark figure in the pristine snow. (105)
VIII – Drowning
The current raged around him, a relentless force that threatened to drag him under. The river was an opponent he was not equipped to defeat. Kaidan fought against the torrent, muscles straining with every stroke. But his strength ended up dwindling and abandoning him, the water closing in on him, his lungs desperately searching for air without being able to find it. His world faded to black. His limp body, unconscious and tossed about by the waves, found refuge on a solitary rock rising from the turbulent river, where he was spotted by his friends, who hoped it was not already too late. (103)
IX - Gag
When he regained consciousness, a tight cloth gag was across his mouth, the knot of it pressing hard on the back of his neck. The fabric tasted dirty of dust and blood. Kaidan didn't know where the Thalmor had taken him while he was unconscious. All his protests and insults were reduced to muffled grunts. His bonds were as tight as his gag and without success, he couldn't free himself. Gritting his teeth on the fabric, he swore to himself to make them pay, all of them. Let him break free from his bonds, and he would kill them all. (102)
X – Held
The Dragonborn's world shifted as tentacles snatched them into Hermaeus Mora's realm, Apocrypha. Panic gripped Kaidan's heart as he lunged to catch them, but Xelzaz firmly held him back by an arm and Lucien gripped his wrist.
"You can't go there, it's too dangerous. They has to confront Miraak alone. Apocrypha is treacherous, Hermaeus Mora wouldn't allow another player in their game.", Lucien explained, his grip tight.
The Black Book consumed the Dragonborn, and, firmly held by his traveling companions, Kaidan stared with a heavy heart as the book closed itself and fell to the ground. (102)

57 @fathermooshroom i said once that dream being puffys child would be a bit of a stretch.. fucking NEVERMIND, i guess.
aw, sally thought tommys outburst was because of her.. im glad theyve cleared that up
tommys separation between himself and spiderman is becoming less and less helpful as a coping mechanism god TOMMY IN THE WISE WORDS OF DEKU ITS YOUR POWER YOU STUPID BITCH!! YOURS!! DO YOU THINK CLARK KENT LOOKS INTO HIS MIRROR AND GOES ‘those are supermans laser eyes not mine 😔’ NO BECAUSE THEYRE THE SAME PERSON
..is it the fact that he doesn’t look like a wreck that makes tommy feel ‘less like himself than usual’? because if thats the case that would be :(
or is it that he wouldnt wear this sort of thing in the first place i think thats it im reading into things
brb im too busy reading the too-small jumper as a metaphor for him outgrowing his old self (because of spiderman) and sally’s words about finding a jumper big enough for him as a metaphor for him accepting his new self, spiderman and all
theres all SORTS of metaphors i can retcon into this clothing sequence wow
pfft ive gotten so used to thinking he can’t tell people about spiderman stuff i completely forgot phil was in the know and i was like ‘tommy how tf are you gonna explain how you know this’ and then he started speaking and i was like ‘o right my bad continue’
tubbo went to URGENT CARE !!! WHAT THE FUCK!! dream put foolish in the hospital MULTIPLE TIMES!!!
WHAT is dreams DEAL with TOMMY?? no offense to tommy but why is it HIM dreams nicest to???
so is dream a clinical psychopath then? if he learnt about tommys identity it might possibly put a pause in his step for a second - i dont think dream actually CARES about tommy persè but he seems to have made the decision to ‘care’ about tommy as much as he can, so those conflicting ideas about how to act towards tommy/spiderman might.. i dunno, fight for a second. his attitude towards spiderman would win out tho
i still dont know for sure if its dream or schlatt calling puffy - schlatt is an associate of dream and maybe someone who helped him live away from puffy?? so its possible? that schlatt and puffy know each other. dream’s becoming the more probable theory, though i dunno why hed call her himself when he hasnt contacted her in ages according to phil. surely he doesnt think she’d join him?? brb im gonna go hunt down all the phone calls we’ve been privy to to figure out why the person was calling her
god.. i cant imagine what it would feel like for your own kid to hurt his brother and little cousin... poor puffy. is that part of the reason she became a therapist? because she wants to help people who went through stuff like her?
YES!! PHIL!! GO PHIL!!! TELL HIM TO SIT THIS ONE OUT!! another point for my ‘world on his shoulders’ evidence list *scribbles in my littol psychologist book* tommy fucking CALM DOWN she’s YOUR therapist not the other way around, duty of care is from HER to YOU not YOU to HER

iv. The Pearl in the Oyster
By the time San was seated in the boat with the wind on his face and the shores of his town on the horizon, he had overcome his shock at discovering a secret pirate refuge.
Jiyong and Mr. Shim had fussed over him and grilled him with questions after he was rescued, but from a combination of the fact that he wasn’t sure whether he had imagined the whole ordeal and the fact that he was terrified, he hadn’t given them much information.
“Please don’t tell my grandparents,” he suddenly begged as the Namhae docks came into view.
“San, you were lost in the caves for nearly an hour,” Mr. Shim argued as he adjusted the sails. “It would be irresponsible of me not to tell them.”
“But I’m not hurt!” San argued back, getting to his feet and swaying slightly with the momentum of the boat. “And they’ll only be angry at me for running away!”
Mr. Shim frowned at him, but he didn’t scold him again, so San took it as a sign to continue.
“Didn’t you ever wander off as a boy? You wouldn’t have wanted your parents to know, would you?”
“I did have my mischievous days,” the man admitted. “But I matured and stayed away from dangerous places until I could handle myself.”
He delivered this last line with a pointed glance, one that told San if he could shape up, he would be off the hook.
A smile grew on his face and he nodded eagerly.
“Alright,” Mr. Shim chuckled. “I was young once too, wasn’t I?”
San greeted the now familiar shores of his island with relief and helped to unload the boat until his grandparents appeared at the docks to collect him.
The old sailor reported that they had enjoyed a refreshing and uneventful time in the markets of Dalhae, true to his word. San waved goodbye to the two and flopped around in the back of the cart on the ride home.
Warm food in his belly and a gentle breeze  blowing through his window, San told Haneul of his adventures and organised her shells into a small wooden chest until Grandmother poked her head in and told them to go to bed.
Even as he stared into the fireplace and tried to fall asleep, the eyes of the pirate lingered in the back of his mind.
Supposing San had gotten all the adventure that he needed, Grandfather put him to work in the carpentry shop the next morning and even more frequently after.
When he was out of the room, busy selling his wares in town, or asleep at the desk, San took it as an opportunity to stretch his sore leg and practice fighting invisible pirates in the carpentry shop unsupervised.
Of course, this resulted in the destruction of some of the carving displays and plank storage, so Grandfather passed him off to Grandmother while he cleaned up after him, and San was subject to quiet reading and a picnic on the beach for the afternoon.
For a boy with an active imagination, San’s life had become rather boring. Unless it was about pirates, it wasn’t interesting enough, so Grandmother in her indulgence gifted him a few naval history books in the hopes that he would be satiated.
He was unsuccessful in discovering the identities of the pirates in the caves no matter how hard he researched, especially when all he had to go on was the fact that one had been sporting a peg leg (apparently a common occurrence among pirates) and the other had seemed... young.
San had all but given up hope when one rainy day in late autumn, the familiar tapping sound of a peg leg resounded from the front path.
His head shot up from where he had been in deep focus at his little desk, whittling a wooden ship (that Grandfather had discouraged, and didn’t need to know about) and he counted two seconds before the jangle of the bell rung out and the customer was on the doorstep, silhouetted by dripping rain that blinked silver in the lightning flash.
Suddenly, the stranger stepped closer and just like that, the fantasy was shattered. San didn’t recognise this man from the caves.
“Wh-Who are you?” He croaked out weakly, standing from his chair and watching the peg leg man intently. Pirate or no pirate, San was ready to defend the house from him if need be.
The man frowned and closed the door behind him, adjusting his satchel with an unreadable look in his eye. “I was informed you’d be expecting me.”
If they were expecting him, San wasn’t aware of the fact. It had only been three days since the magistrate had been over for dinner, and San’s grandparents didn’t invite guests that frequently.
“Who are you, exactly?” He asked, trying to be polite, catching himself with a late bow.
“Oh, hello Dr. Hong!”
Right on cue, Grandfather rushed out from the back room and came to shake hands with the man, whose large bag made a lot more sense now.
A doctor.
San didn’t like doctors.
“I hope San didn’t let you stand out in the rain,” Grandfather was saying with a pointed glance that told San he was in trouble if he had.
“No, not at all,” Dr. Hong laughed as he was helped out of his coat. “The lad seemed wary, but I can see why.”
The doctor tapped his peg leg on the rug and San blushed at being called out. “I’ll tell you how I got it if you ask,” the man continued with a bright smile. “But first, I have a patient to attend to!”
Grandfather and the doctor hurried upstairs and left San to his own devices, wondering why a doctor had been called and quieting his intense curiosity about the peg leg as it began to grow again.
He finished the masts by the time Dr. Hong returned to the shop. Sensing the boy’s nervousness, the doctor quickly reassured him his visit was only a routine checkup.
“Haneul is doing well, all things considered,” he told him softly. “Though, you must always protect her and keep her healthy.”
San agreed in a heartbeat, not too naïve to forget why he was here on Namhae in the first place.
Everything was for Haneul.
“Ah, yes, the leg,” the guest remembered just before leaving.
San perked up and scooted closer to hear the tale.
“It was back in my Navy days, before I picked up medicine,” he explained. “I was a gunner on one of those cargo transport ships, the Royal Longtail, back when the East Colonies were just starting out and the trade routes were being established. We were attacked by pirates on the trip back and I, an inexperienced soldier, was shot in the leg and carted to the infirmary for the rest of the battle. I thought for a few harrowing moments that I was on the brink of death, but somehow I was saved.”
“How?” San nearly burst out, leaning on the edge of his seat.
Dr. Hong displayed his peg leg again. “The surgeon chopped off my leg just above the knee and managed to stop the bleeding. That miracle— the one that saved my life— convinced me to switch to the field of surgery. It’s quite new and underdeveloped but as you can see, real results are happening!”
San smiled at the satisfying conclusion of the story and bid the doctor farewell.
He still didn’t like them as a rule, but he could make an exception for this one.
Haneul claimed to be doing fine when San brought the evening meal up to her bedroom where she lay staring at the ceiling, but her skin was pale and clammy and from the way she was breathing he could tell she was anxious about something.
“Do you... want me to sit with you?” He asked timidly, unsure how to help once he’d set the plate on her bedside table and closed the window to shut out the breeze.
“No, just leave me alone,” his half-sister muttered, rolling over to face the wall and leaving San hurt and confused.
Without another word, he crept away and into his own room, tucking himself into bed. He knew not to take it personally, that sometimes she just got into moods like this when she was discouraged about her illness.
But it made San worry that the doctor hadn’t in fact told him everything.
Haneul appeared at breakfast but refused to play with him when he returned from school, in the few hours San had before he would be herded back into the carpentry shop.
It was disappointing but San took it as an opportunity to look for new friends, something he hadn’t put much effort into since arriving.
There were a couple of teenage girls with a five year old brother playing further down the beach on the rocks, the opposite way as Mr. Shim’s house, so San strolled over and introduced himself.
“I haven’t seen you before,” he admitted shyly. “Do you usually play further up the beach?”
“Yes,” the older of the two explained. “But today we’ve come here because of the construction.”
“Construction?” San asked, confused.
The girl pointed past the rooftops to the harbour where the masts craned like birds flocking along the shoreline. “The naval garrison. They’re finally building it.”
“It’s loud!” The little boy whined, crying when a particularly large swell washed him face-down into the sand.
San giggled and helped him up, seamlessly joining in their hunt for oysters while they told him what the garrison in town was going to look like.
He couldn’t help but glance over the hill and wonder what it would mean for Namhae. The more Navy presence, the less likely pirates would appear. And the less likely the two from the Dalhae caves would appear.
As San cracked open an oyster and, to his amazement, found a lucky pearl, he decided maybe it was for the better.
He’d had his adventure- enough adventure for a lifetime.
...

Dinner at Hawkeye Manor was a pleasant affair for those who were accustomed to long stretches of loaded silence. After three years of dining in a conversation vacuum, Roy Mustang had gotten used to it.
Berthold Hawkeye took his meals with his nose pressed between the pages of the newspaper while his daughter balanced the checkbook. Clinking silverware and chiming glass accompanied the pungent smell of printer’s ink as the tip of Riza’s pencil scratched against the household’s ledger. The set of the fourteen-year old’s blonde brow spoke volumes about the solvency of the Hawkeye estate, and judging from recent observations, Roy braced himself for another hard winter. He wrote home to his Aunt Chris, asking for sweet treats, a thick pair of gloves and extra blankets to see him through, intending to put the letter to post the next morning before his lessons.
“What are you doing?”
Riza’s voice was not entirely jarring, but the sudden urgency of the question caught Roy off guard. He flinched, nearly jumped out of his skin and pivoted in his chair, staring back at the knock-kneed tomboy as if he had seen a ghost. Admittedly, she had been looking paler lately; the threadbare quality of her clothes emphasized that fact.
“Writing a letter to my Aunt. Why?”
“The one who lives in Central?”
“Yes.” Roy supposed he hadn’t quite explained that he only had one aunt, that he knew of at least, but wasn’t about to start now. “Why?” Roy’s voice carried an edge that he hadn’t quite anticipated.
“Sorry,” he added, apologetically, “I’ve got a lot to do here, and you startled me. Is there something you need, Riza?”
Reluctance was not an emotion that Riza wore all that often or all that well. She fiddled with the frayed end of her baby blue sweater, refusing to meet his eyes as she spoke. “You should go into town to mail that letter this evening so it’ll go out on the morning train,” she said. “I’ll set aside some dinner for you. I’ll even give you an extra slice of dessert. It’s peach cobbler.”
“That will take almost an hour, and I don’t want an extra slice of dessert,” Roy retorted. “I can just give the letter to the postman tomorrow morning. One day won’t make a difference.”
Still stroking the hem of her clothing, Riza’s tone became impassioned. She looked up to meet the gaze of her father’s apprentice. “It might freeze tomorrow night, and the mail to Central could be delayed for weeks. Could you please, Roy? I- I need to talk to my father, and I think it’d be best if you were out.”
Roy opened his mouth to argue but stopped as the puzzle pieces fit together, forming a more precise picture in his mind. Riza needed to speak with her father, which she never did. She’d made Professor Hawkeye’s favorite food, peach cobbler, which they rarely could afford. Riza was offering Roy an extra slice of dessert - possible her own - because it was the only bargaining chip she had to offer.
He’d be an ass to refuse her request at this point. Aunt Chris had taught him better than that.
“Fine,” he hissed through gritted teeth. Roy glanced out the window as the wind gusted through the trees, knocking burnish yellow, brown and orange leaves from the branches. He shivered at the thought of a long, lonely walk down the dusty country road.
Roy returned later than intended with frozen toes and cheeks red and raw from the cold. As he stepped into the entryway and stamped his boots against the mat, Roy heard raised voices coming from their small kitchen, the place he usually ate dinner.
“I give you food. I give you shelter. I provide for a first-rate education, and what has that school imposed on us! The clothes on your back are fine as they are, and I should write that school an impassioned letter to protest non-academic endeavors. End of discussion.” Berthold’s raised voice loomed through the wooden walls of the dilapidated country home.
“All the other girls enjoy the cotillion,” Riza stressed. Her tone was high and shrill. “I don’t want to ruin it for everyone, but the nice dress I have doesn’t fit. I asked my teacher if I could help prepare and serve the food again with the lower grades, but she said no. I’m to be judged on table etiquette this year and dancing next year. The cotillion is one-sixth of my overall grade, Father!”
“Table etiquette and dancing!” Berthold scoffed. “I’m not going to allow you to spend a quarter of our monthly budget on frivolities such as shoes and dresses that you’ll wear once. What you have is sufficient.”
“Please, Father. I already tried letting out the seams. See? The hem is too far above my knees, and my chest-”
Roy crept close to the doorframe. He walked softly to muffle the sound of his footsteps against the hardwood and pressed his back against the wall. The apprentice stilled his breath to hear his master’s low, cruel utterance.
“Maybe you should eat less. It fit your mother fine when she was your age.”
There was a beat of silence as the weight of his words settled and wreaked their havoc. Roy’s fists tightened. His teeth clenched, and he heard the soft shuffling of fabric and shoes against the kitchen’s checkerboard floor as Riza darted into the hall.
He caught sight of her as she passed and was surprised to find Riza wearing a lacey white dress gone yellow with age. The delicate layers sat too high on her hips, and the button-up back was taut.  The effect strained the natural curves of her figure in places where the garment should have comfortably fallen. In the split-second their eyes met, she turned away and darted up the stairs toward her room.
As Roy followed in Riza’s footsteps, he stopped off at the small apprentice dormitory to discard his jacket, boots and scarf but caught sight of the dinner on his desk before he could peel the layers from his skin. As promised, there sat an extra serving a peach cobbler and a note thanking him for his discretion. The sight hurt Roy’s heart just as much as the soft sobs coming from the other side of the hallway.
He sat down to write another letter to his Aunt Chris and told himself that he didn’t mind two brisk walks through the bitter cold on the same evening.
If the crates stacked in the entryway of Hawkeye Manor bothered Berthold, he paid them little mind. The postman begrudgingly lugged them in from his wagon with sideways remarks about the size and weight that Roy pretended not to hear. It took the young man four trips to carry the wooden boxes to his second-story dormitory and twenty minutes more to recover from his exertions. But the content of crates far surpassed any expectations he might have had when he asked his Aunt if his sisters had a nice dress to spare.
Chris Mustang’s note was, as she, straightforward and to the point.
Roy-boy,
A dress is useless without shoes, coats and accessories. Your sisters have no need of these as they are from last year. See that they find a good home.
Aunt Chris
All that was left was to wait for Riza to return home from school.
“Oh, Riza,” Roy called out, pleased as a preening peacock, “could you come here a moment. I have a favor to ask.”
Roy waited with growing impatience for her to turn the corner and smiled like the Cheshire cat when her indignant scowl fell, quickly replaced by a look of wonder. At least a dozen dresses and coats of all colors and styles were laid over the two vacant beds in the dormitory. An entire jewelry box of ornate rings, bejeweled earnings and long strands of pearls sat casually on Roy’s nightstand. And in the corner of the room, a large crate of purses and high-heeled shoes sat, still waiting to be unpacked.
“My silly sisters thought you might be interested in some of their old dresses,” he started. “And I told them that, of course, you wouldn’t want last year’s styles, but they insisted, and here we are. Might you consider taking these off my hands? I’d hate to send them back.”
Riza approached the dresses with equal parts hesitation and fascination, running the back of her hand along the frilly sleeve of a shimmering, soft pink dress and burying her fingers in a fur-lined coat that, Roy realized, once belonged to his own Aunt. Then, suddenly, her awe turned sour as she shook her head to rid her eyes of the marvels before them.
“I can’t accept these, Roy,” she said sadly. “We can’t afford-”
“Oh, please,” Roy interrupted. He’d prepared himself for this particular argument. “No one would be caught dead in these clothes in Central City. And I realize it will be a hassle to take them in, but I’d hate to have to haul these to the post office. It’s so far away, and the weather is absolutely terrible this time of year.”
Roy hoped against hope that, just this once, she wouldn’t be so stubborn, and he was rewarded by a teary-eyes gaze that caught the reflection of the many metallic bobbles glinting in her new jewelry box. Riza gathered the clothing in her arms and looked at Roy with a heartbreaking grin that stretched the corners of her heart-shaped face.
“Thank you,” was all she said in reply.
Through the lump in his throat, Roy grumbled his own response. “Don’t mention it.”
He couldn’t go to the dance with her and probably would not spend another winter under Berthold’s tutelage. Neither could Roy change his master’s mind once it had been made up nor lessen the burden of her lonely life. But if he could play some small part in a brief moment of happiness, the young man decided he would take that chance, if not for altruistic reasons then selfish ones. If only so that when Riza would smile, all decked out in her finery as she departed for the cotillion, Roy would know he was responsible for it.
He would fight for her well-being, even after she herself had surrendered.
A/N:  Thank you so much for the prompt. I hope you like it even though I took royai and made it young!royai.  Today, I woke up thinking about my grandmother and a particular conversation she had with my father about a prom dress.  So, I guess this one it a little for her as well.  Feel free to send me pairing requests for particular prompts (Fictober or original) via my tumblr, and if you read something you like, don’t hesitate to let me know. Your kudos, bookmarks, subscriptions, comments, likes and reblogs make my day!

~~*~~
Waking up seemed more difficult than usual, but Jeff tried anyway, prying open his sticky eyes to see an unfamiliar room. It took him a moment to collect his hazy thoughts enough to realize he was in a hospital bed, rails up on either side of him and an IV taped to one arm.
A throb of pain started up warningly in his side when he tried to sit up and Jeff sagged back against the pillows, swallowing hard. Oh, right. Those guys, the blood—
There was no sign of any blood now. His hands were scrubbed pink and clean and his clothes were replaced with a hospital gown. A faint snore caught his attention and that was when he finally noticed the chair pulled up next to the bed. No rickety plastic one but a regular armchair, and Stretch was curled up in it, asleep, a tangle of a blanket partially covering him and legs dangling over the arm. His bony feet were hanging over the untidy pile of his shoes, a different colored sock on each one.
That must’ve made for a rough night, trying to sleep in that little chair. Stretch was a good foot and a half taller than him, Edge only slightly less so. Antwan didn’t tower over him quite as much, but Jeff was definitely the shortest in their group.
Their group.
A quick glance around the room told him that it was only the two of them and a pang of concern overshadowed any discomfort from his gut. Jeff groaned as he struggled to sit up and Stretch’s eye sockets opened instantly.
“hey, kid,” he said, groggily. Stretch stood up, pushing his hands at the small of his back as he straightened his spine with a groan. “the chairs here could definitely use a built-in futon or something.”
“I bet,” Jeff said. His voice sounded raspy, his throat painfully dry. “I think I’m supposed to tell you that you look like shit, but honestly, you kinda always look like that.”
“you can’t be too bad if you’ve got jokes,” Stretch said dryly, then more seriously. “how are you feeling?”
“Thirsty.” There was a styrofoam cup with a bendy straw sitting on a swinging tray attached to the bed, and Jeff reached for it, almost fumbling the cup. Stretch caught it before it could spill all over the sheets and held it while he drank gratefully from the straw. The water was cool and refreshing, and Jeff didn’t think it had ever tasted so good.
“Thanks,” Jeff said, after he’d had his fill, sinking back into the pillows.
"no problem. don't feel too bad, klutz, you're still on the good drugs.” Stretch set the cup back down and stuck his hands in his pockets. “welp, from your expression, you’ve got a shitton questions, so let me see if i can sum up before you fall back asleep. you're in the monster side of the hospital. it's technically a part of the embassy, so even though it’s supposed to be family only, they let me in, and it keeps the police out.”
“Where are Edge and Antwan?” That was his most pressing question, because they had to be together. If they were hurt, he was sure Stretch would have told him that first, but he…he needed to know.
Stretch poked absently at a tray sitting on the table next to the water. It held what looked like breakfast; a box of cereal, some fruit, a carton of orange juice. “still talking to the police, down at the embassy. they’ll be by later.”
He tried to offer Jeff an orange and he shook his head, refusing to be distracted. “Are they in trouble?”
“nah,” Stretch’s smile was careless, almost deliberately so, “edge might’ve been a smidge overzealous putting those shits down,” He held up a hand, thumb and forefinger a bare inch apart, “lil’ bit. but it’s hard to argue it wasn’t deserved when you were laying there doing your best impression of a pincushion. things got a little hairy, but it’s all good now.”
Somehow, Jeff didn’t think that was the entire story. Once, in a moment of rare confidence, Edge mentioned that Stretch, and his own brother, either lied terribly or very, very well. It made it impossible to know for sure which was which, and a bad lie could be a disguise for a better one, partial lies strung together into a necklace of half-truths.
Whatever the actual truth was, he’d have to wait and try to get it out of Edge. He was straightforward, at least. Edge would either tell you or refuse, not bothering with any nuances in between.
The ache in his belly was rising like a dull throb. Jeff set a hand gingerly over it, feeling the heavy padding of bandages, and remembered warmth, eerie green light. “You healed me.”
“yeah.” There was no attempt to dismiss that, at least, nothing but an honest answer.
“I didn’t know Monsters could heal Humans like that.”
“no humans do,” Stretch fiddled with the blanket, picking little lint balls from it and flicking them away. “we didn’t want them to know. asgore is lots of things, but he’s not stupid, and we were afraid of what might happen if the humans in charge got wind of what we can do. hence, the healing shit sans and i were working on. yeah, it takes magic to make it, but a manufactured product puts monsters out of the direct equation. or it would’ve, if it worked.” He coughed a little, his eye lights skittering around the room. “anyway, that’s one of the reasons i couldn’t heal you all the way. couldn’t really explain away that much blood and no one hurt. not like they were going to buy that dracula fumbled a snack or something. i took care of the worst of it, i think. i don’t have a liver or spleen but i’m pretty sure you like having ‘em around.”
Jesus. It left him cold, thinking of what Stretch had risked, healing him. If anyone saw or guessed— “I won’t tell anyone, I swear.”
Stretch finally looked at him, surprised, like it hadn’t even occurred to him to ask a promise of it. “of course you won’t. so, they’re gonna keep you a few days, the doc said, make sure everything is on the up and up before they cut you loose.”
“Sounds fun.”
“eh, i’ll keep you company. gotta say, it’s kinda nice to be on this side of the hospital bed. trust me, i know what it’s like. we’ll get you netflix and everything in here.” Stretch hesitated, then added, slowly, “edge thought we should wait to let you decide whether or not to call your parents, but he didn't say why.”
He didn't ask, but his expression was gentle, inviting confidence. He’d never judge Jeff if he didn’t tell him, but somehow, he thought he could this time, even if it hurt to say. Today seemed like a day for confessions, may as well lance the wound.
"My parents kicked me out when I was fifteen," Jeff said, tiredly. "When I told them I was gay. I ended up stayed with one of my teachers until I graduated if you can believe it. I don't have any other family, so...anyway, she helped. She was so great and—" His voice broke, old pain rising up, joining the ache in his belly, but this one was a wound that had never really healed.
His parents he was mostly over; sometimes his mom called to check in these days, but whatever maternal instinct that wouldn’t allow her to cut him loose wasn’t enough for her to welcome him back, either. Their stilted phone calls were more relief when they were over than anything else. But Mrs. Stinson. Julia, she’d told him to call her with a laugh, she wasn’t a teacher in her own house. He could still remember her hugs and the light, floral scent of her perfume, comforting him in those dark first days when he couldn’t believe his parents had…he’d never dreamed that—
A hand settled over his, bony, inhuman, Monster, and Jeff gripped it desperately.
“what happened to her?” Stretch asked quietly.
“Cancer happened. My junior year at college. She didn’t tell me for a long time, didn’t want me to worry.” A fine sentiment, but it’d given him no time to prepare himself when she’d died. One day she’d been there, supporting him, the foundation holding him up and the next, he’d been on his own again, adrift. “And ever since then, I’ve been…I don’t know. A little lost. All my friends from college graduated and moved on and I’m still here and—I know you don’t believe it, but I was so, so happy when you wanted to be friends, I…I haven’t had that for such a long time.”
He could taste salt and this time it was tears. There was a box of tissue on the side table and Stretch snagged it, plunking it on the bed so Jeff could grab a few, wiping his face dry, as much as he could with tears still trickling.
He didn’t care. Stretch needed a tissue or two of his own, wiping at his cheek bones, "yeah. me, too. maybe not ever.” Stretch let out another sigh, his bony fingers flexing in Jeff’s grip. “but this wouldn’t have happened if you weren’t friends with me.”
That made Jeff laugh weakly through his tears. “It must be because you’re a scientist.”
“what?”
“You guys love being technically right. Yeah, I wouldn’t have gotten hurt, but that doesn’t make it your fault.”
Stretch only hummed thoughtfully. There was no telling if he believed Jeff or not.
He squeezed Stretch’s hand; his grip was weaker than he would have liked and he was starting to want to go back to sleep, but he needed to say a few things yet, “If they'd attacked you, they would have killed you."
There was no question of that, Jeff knew. Low HP, Antwan had told him on that first visit, five on a good day. One good swipe of a knife and Stretch would have been gone, dust, and as terrible as it had been, as terrifying, the blood and the fear lingering in the back of his mind, it was easier to accept when he thought of the alternative; Stretch in the lead, trying to sneak a cigarette, and maybe he would have noticed them, noticed the knife. Maybe not.
"they almost killed you,” Stretch took a deep breath, let it out in a shaky rush, “let's not dwell on the almosts and could be's, yeah? bet edge and antwan will do enough for both of us.”
Antwan, the shock on his face when he was kneeling on the ground next to him, the fear, his bloody hands holding his jacket, pushing it down on the wounds. Fuck, he wanted to see him, touch him, make sure he was okay. Jeff tamped down that urge as best he could. They would come when they could and that would have to be enough.
He wasn’t exactly in much condition to storm out and find him.
Nope, now he was here, in the hospital, and with that thought came another cold realization. Fuck, but this was going to be a fortune in debt, a replacement for the student loans he’d gotten rid of. And they would fucking know it, Stretch and Edge, no, no, not this time. “Listen, I need you to not pay my medical bills.”
Stretch only looked startled, without a hint of guilt, but yeah, liar, liar. “what? andy—”
“I mean it,” Jeff said firmly. “You guys already do too much for me. It’s one thing when it’s bus fares and Chinese food but this is too much. I’ll take care of it.” Surely he could set up a payment plan of some sort, hospitals wanted their money but they’d take what they could get.
Since he hadn’t been able to persuade Jeff to try anything from the breakfast tray, Stretch seemed to have decided it was fair game, peeling the orange and munching on the segments. “pretty nice speech, but we weren’t gonna pay your medical bills. since you’re listed as an embassy employee, they get to cover it all under your health care plan.”
What? Jeff sat up too fast, had to sink back into the pillows with a grimace as his side protested vigorously. “I…what? How am I listed as an Embassy employee?”
Stretch only grinned smugly, licking juice from his fingertips. “did you ever take a good look at that permanent badge edge gave you?”
“Past seeing the picture is terrible, no.” It was in his wallet even now, but Jeff never really looked at it, only handed it to the guards at New New Home whenever he was stopping by.
“welp, spoiler alert, you’re listed as an official liaison between humans and monsterkind. pretty sure edge has been trying to discreetly slip you a job for weeks now, but i’ll let him bring that up to you.”
“But…Edge has me listed as an employee?” Jeff sputtered. “He can’t…he’ll get into trouble!”
“why would he get into trouble?”
"He will!” Jeff scowled as Stretch flopped back into his chair and for once, his visible amusement was not damn well funny. “Look, I don’t want him to stick his neck out for me and cause problems for himself at work.”
Stretch propped an elbow on the chair arm, resting his chin in his palm as he asked with polite interest, “do you even know what edge does?"
"Yes!" Jeff said defensively. "He showed me a lot of it once when we were having lunch together."
"uh huh, i bet he did." Stretch blinked once, slowly, and his amusement was shining in his eye lights. "kid, uh, no one is going to be yelling at edge for what he put on your swipe card. or for anything, really. edge is the senior director of operations, he lowkey runs the embassy from behind the scenes."
"What?" Dumbly, the word falling free, because yeah, Edge really had shown him some stuff, spreadsheets and documents, calmly explaining what he did every day, but Jeff hadn’t suspected that.
Stretch shrugged. "that bit ain’t official, but everyone knows it. edge doesn't want to be in the spotlight, so he does everything from the background, all kinds of shit. He handles pr, the legal teams, sets up meetings with heads of state. all of it goes directly through him. embassy would fall apart without him, no one is going to even question handing over a benefits package. come to think of it, there's probably only a couple people over his head who could question it.”
"Like…like who?" Jeff asked weakly.
“well, there's asgore, of course,” Stretch snagged a handful of grapes, popping one into his mouth. “probably janice. if they'd fall apart without him, he falls apart without her. okay, that’s enough, you’re hurting, and you need to go back to sleep.” Stretch wiped his hands carelessly on a napkin and stood, walking over to the IV to fiddle with something.
“Wait.” Jeff caught his hands, stilling him. “Those guys, the ones that…what happened to them?”
“they got out with their souls intact,” Stretch said sourly. “they’re in jail far as I know.”
That sounded weirdly ominous and gave him another question. “Are you sure Humans even have souls?”
That seemed to take Stretch aback. “um, yeah. i’ve seen them.”
“How?”
“monsters can summon souls," Stretch said, a little impatiently. "it’s a thing, c'mon, kid--”
Today was fraught with information and as much as his side was aching, Jeff couldn’t help asking, “Can you summon mine?”
“well, fuck, you chose a hell of a time to get over your problem asking questions. you’re pretty banged up, kid, i—" Whatever Stretch saw in Jeff’s expression gave him a pause and he stopped with a sigh, “yeah, okay. just…real quick.” He gave the door a wary glance, then settled a hand over Jeff’s chest. “this shouldn’t hurt. tell me if it does.”
His fingers curled inward, almost like he was grabbing something. There was the strangest tugging sensation as if he had a hook caught painlessly in his spine, making his back arch until—
Light coalesced in Stretch’s hand, hovering above the bones and Jeff stared, distantly amazed.
His soul.
Illuminated a pale green, it looked like an actual heart, the same as on a Valentine card. Sort of. It was hard to look at, the edges undefined, wavering between the childish outline and something undefinable, and the light came somehow from within it. “Oh.”
“yeah, you have a nice one,” Stretch didn’t touch it, only let it hover over his outstretched hand. “monster souls are silver, if you don’t have lv, but human souls have a color that matches your dominant trait.”
“What’s my—“
“compassion,” Stretch interrupted softly. “okay, that’s enough.” He let his hand drop and the soul faded, disappeared like it was sliding right through his shirtfront. “don’t try that with just anyone on the street, it’s kinda a big thing.”
“Oh.” He was suddenly terribly sleepy and wondered if it was from pulling out his soul or if Stretch had managed to hit the painkiller pump on his IV when he wasn’t looking. “You seen Edge’s soul?”
“that’s a more complicated question than you think.”
He’d heard that Edge had LV, knew what it was. His mouth seemed to be willing to go on asking questions on its own, uncaring if it was rude or prying. “Has Edge killed someone?”
“yes.” Stretch offered no excuse, no explanation.
“More than one person?”
A long, slow sigh. “yeah, but that’s really his story to tell.”
“He was a soldier.”
“yeah,” Stretch agreed, quietly. “he was.”
Jeff didn’t know why he asked, couldn’t stop it from spilling out, “Have you killed anyone?”
“one person,” So terribly soft, barely audible, “but i killed them a lot. now go to sleep or i’m gonna put your lights out myself.”
“Stretch?” It was getting hard to think, his consonants softened, slurring out.
“what now?” Stretch asked in exasperated amusement.
“I'm glad you're my friend.”
“thanks, andy.” Warmth settled over Jeff, another blanket? He couldn’t tell. “me, too. i’ll be here when you wake up again, kid.”
“Mmkay.” Sleep was too hard to resist anymore, and his questions faded, lost, as he drifted. His last thought was to hope Antwan and Edge would get here soon and then even that faint worry faded, lost in the darkness.

♙ song rec: idkhbtfm - choke & summer soul - promise
All good things must come to an end.
That was the saying, wasn’t it? No matter how hard you worked, how much you pushed and exerted yourself, no matter how much you think this is going to last forever. It’s not. It won’t. Maybe it needs to come to end so it can come back again, but that wasn’t the point. The point was that you were naive to think that this was going to end well. Did you really think that you would go back to the estate with Hyunjin, with a broken window and hurt fist, after breaking the rules established to ‘keep you safe.’
To say you were bitter was a grave understatement, you were livid, burning over with rage. There was only so much you could take, the temperature could only raise so much until your brain would melt and along with it any sense of morality. A pressure pot, that’s what you were. Whistling and blowing steam, the air compacted gasping for an escape, clawing at it’s cage. But it was kept in, because there is no shortcut, no escape to the life you live. None that was worth it, anyway.
What could you do, how much more of this could you take? It was such a vain question, so futile, so naive and stupid that it made you laugh. How could you prepare for a hypothetical? Sure, the tipping point was arriving, and it was arriving soon, but how would preparation help? What could you do? The time would come, regardless of whatever plan or scheme you would seemingly, deceivingly devise.
But you did it anyway.
It was so human of you, so childish, so immature but you did it anyway. You thought about how you would do anything you could before letting Sir Hwang win, anything before you would take someone else’s life. What was that anything? You didn’t know.
You didn’t know a lot of things, you had more questions than answers you would ever get. More answers than you were allowed to get. Your entire life you had to fall in line, pretend, obey. And where had it gotten you? Nowhere. And disobeying got you here, sitting in a bathroom stall, feet planted on the seat and your back aching from crouching down, chest pressed against your knees.
How many days had it been since your father’s death? You hadn’t been counting, you didn’t even know if he had a service. Had he even been buried? Did it matter, considering the type of person he was? Conformist and obedient little lap dog that he had been. Knowing the type of people he worked with, it was a roulette wheel. Maybe they had given him a grand service, wonderful and exquisite, downplaying all the horrible things he had done, sugar coating it with honey, a sense of loyalty and obedience. Died a lap dog, did you, father? And maybe that was the way you would go to, buried in gold and used beyond your death to push an agenda of terror, propaganda for those indoctrinated. There would be no greater sense of irony.
You don’t even know how you hadn’t noticed your bleeding hand on the table, pulsing and throbbing with pain, hell there had even been shards of glass still stuck in your knuckles. How were you going to explain that? It seemed like the right thing to do in the moment, the only thing repeating and circulating in an adrenaline fueled brain of yours. Fuck, what was Sir Hwang going to do, what would he think? It’s not like you had a ready explanation, it’s not like he already didn’t know. Fuck, he probably knew didn’t he? Shit. You pulled at the shards, blinking again and again, holding your breath as long pieces fell into the toilet bowl. It smelled awful in the men’s bathroom. You could barely make a fist, much less hold the gun in your hand. It was still bleeding, beads of blood rolling down your hand and onto your leg.
It was in your best interest not to make it out of this situation alive, but if you died now, Hyunjin probably wouldn’t make it alive. Seeing as it was his gun in your hand, resting next to your leg, you doubted that he’d make it out alive, and Hyunjin was the closest person you knew to John Wick. It wasn’t even really for yourself at this point, you were long past the idea of self-preservation. There was no way you should have really known that, the idea of building an elite team to lead the next generation of the Hwang Empire was that none of you were supposed to know each other. Construct trust from time and pressured situations, each of you trained for your specific inherited position. It turned out though, you had a bad habit of exploring. Nothing too out of bounds, nothing that could get you in serious trouble- only small smiles and light scoldings. But you suppose there’s a reason they say curiosity killed the cat.
It was when you were young, you couldn’t pinpoint an age but you’d found him, alone, with his back facing the door. He was playing the piano, so you thought he had heard you come in. So, naturally, you wanted to play. Next thing you know, he had you pinned to the ground, surprised to see a girl. He was all embarrassed after, sputtering sorry after sorry. And then you found him in the practice room, not your practice room, of course. This was the first time you had left your designated building, and you’d be lying if you said it wasn’t because you didn’t want to find him. And it turned out it was a mostly fair fight, you could hold your own, but so could Hyunjin- granted you weren’t sparring with weapons. At the time you didn’t know what you were training for, hell, you didn’t know until after the ceremony. But you also didn’t know he was letting you win.
You found out because the piano scene had happened again, and your arms wrapped around him- you were gonna pull him off his stool- but he looked up and smiled at you. It had made you angry, not because he was more agile than you (well, that too, you suppose) but because he wasn’t letting you learn. It had taken a few weeks for him to figure out why you were upset, and he found you in your designated building that time, wallowing out in the garden your parents had. He apologized, and ever since after that, you guys were mostly even in your skills.
You always were better with firearms though, or at least, it was what you were led to believe.
Here you were now, breathing through your mouth so your nose wouldn’t whistle as you inhaled. Hyunjin was in the last stall, you could hear or see him, and that was good. As good as you could get in this situation. You knew he was lying, and it was something small either. You wouldn’t know what it was until it came to bite you in the ass, but at least you knew it was coming. He must’ve known, he must know something. And still, maybe you should be comforted by the fact that he was your boyfriend, but what came first. You, or this district, the inheritance from his bloodline? Were you more important than his history? He was going to betray you, you knew. But when? How? That was up to fate, and she was not fond of you.
Let’s rewind.
You were sitting next to Hyunjin, his leg pressed against yours. His hand was holding your uninjured one, planting kisses on your forehead. Neither of you said anything, barely even breathing, just sitting in silence. Your head was on his shoulder, and you could feel the slow rise and fall of his chest as he inhaled and exhaled. You really thought, you really did think that this night would end alright. He would’ve hid his car and fixed the window, you would’ve cleaned your hand and hid it to the best of your abilities or come up with a lie that rolled right off your tongue. If you were lucky, if you were really lucky, not even Changbin would notice.
Dear god, you up there? Hello? Asshole.
The diner door slammed open, and the glass shattered. Immediately, there were shots fired up into the ceiling, leaving little burnt and brown holes in the tiles. People began to scream and yell, hiding under their tables, throwing their valuables onto the floor, far from themselves.
You knew better.
“Hyunjin go to the last stall of the men’s bathroom, and give me your gun.”
The both of you were under the table, and he was squeezing your hand so tight you felt it would break, knowing your knuckles had become a bright white. He looked at you angrily, as if you were insane. You knew this look, you had seen it before. His eyebrows were furrowed, eyes boring into yours, his lips stretched tight. His face was close to yours, you could feel the hotness of his breath. “Are you f-”
“No, maybe a little. Go, I’m right behind you. Now, Hyunjin, while their backs are turned.”
You watched him go to the bathroom, in a slightly awkward crouch. You followed, your eyes focused on a group of men you’d never seen before. In there, you waited. You knew, realistically, it couldn’t have been more than two minutes. But you were sopped in sweat, hair clinging to your face. Your sweater was clinging to your torso. You heard the ladies’ restroom door slam open, and each stall door swing open. You winced as you heard shots ring, a small, audible plea escape someone’s lips. You should’ve left sooner. You heard him walk out, the echo of his steps trailing behind him. Your heart was in your throat, you should’ve been shaken, more scared but time? That was not something you had. The men’s restroom door swung open, and you waited. God, fuck, you waited. You waited until the first bathroom stall door was opened, and you ran out. He couldn’t have been older than mid-twenties, but you couldn’t kill him. He turned around, maybe he had heard you, maybe it was to move on to the next stall, but you were face to face with him.
And he was scared.
You never thought it’d come to this, disarming someone from his gun, pulling a bleeding man out of the men’s bathroom out of the bathroom. His gun was resting in the waistband of your sweatpants now, Hyunjin’s gun pressed against the man’s temple as you dragged him out. He was only shot in the foot, god, why was there so much blood? There shouldn’t be this much, you had only shot to immobilize him, fuck, what if you killed him? What if he was dying? He grunted as you pushed him, hand on his collar. There were immediate shots fired at you, and you ducked, still holding onto the man. You should’ve been thinking about morality, but maybe self-preservation wasn’t so far gone after all. You cocked your gun, hand on the trigger as you dragged you and the man out from under the table. You distracted the incoming man with a false shot, piercing a hole into the glass window behind him. He was dazed for a second, enough for you to shoot him in the foot. You watched him stumble, another man shooting at you.
He was a bad shot.
You let go of the grip on the bleeding man, throwing him at the other. You watched him stumble as you reached for his gun. There were six, you counted six that entered. You heard it echo, the gunshot before it entered your side. Son of a bitch.
He was a better shot.
You threw yourself behind the counter, staining it with your blood. There was steam coming off the barrel of your gun, but you knew it was blank now. You threw it loudly, a dumb maybe- but effective strategy to divert their attention. You were heaving, blood pouring out of your side as you got up. You shot him in the leg, you didn’t even know his name and here you were, probably killing him. You knew it was unlikely, but it all depended. He was stumbling, the determined bastard, so you shot him twice in the foot, ducking as he fired before his gun clattered. The last two men shooting you in a frenzy. You had practiced for this, you had trained your whole entire fucking life for this. Spending days in a practice room with both of your hands equipped with handguns. You could do this, and you could do it without killing them. You crawled to the corner of the counter, peeking out at them before standing up. You felt a warmness stream down your shoulder, but it couldn't be as bad as them. They toppled on top of each other like dominos. You stood there, hands frozen in place. They were shaking, the guns convulsing as you attempted to hold them, trying to hold them as threateningly as you could.
Your attention was brought to the people, quivering under their tables and you smiled at them. You knew it couldn't be that comforting, you looked a horror. But they nodded, a mother thanking you, a scared smiled as she and her child ran out the door. There was so much blood, everywhere. Some of them was your own, you knew, but not enough. You pulled up one of the heads, his eyes slightly watery, but his face still mimicking anger.
“Who sent you?”
“Fuck off, stupid cunt.”
“This stupid cunt is still standing. You should be thankful I didn’t kill you. Just bruised your ego a bit.”
He pursed his lips a bit before spitting blood at your face. You sighed, slightly disgusted before pulling his gun to press up against him. “Fine. Shit- okay, can you put that down please? I’ll tell you, just put the gun down.” You smiled sweetly at him.
“No.”
“Some kid’s father? Hwang- eh, Gerald, it was that Hwang guy right? He hired us. Told us to kill some kid’s girlfriend off. That’s you, right? Shit.” You sighed, pushing the gun against the floor.
“I’m sorry for shooting you.”
“Sorry-? Oh, fuck, that’s rich. Think that’s the first time we’ve heard that huh, Gerald?”
“I didn’t want to kill you. So, please don’t die.”
“Sure.”
“Now, get the fuck out.”
“Shit, thank fuck. You’re a good shot by the way.”
“You fucking suck.”
“Fair enough.”
You found yourself in the men’s bathroom again. Pulling yourself like a worm, collapsing after you watched the men leave. The phones and all the valuables were still in the middle of the room, but no doubt the police would come eventually. Even if they were less than competent in this city. “Is that you, ____? Oh god, I’m so sorry.” He was hazy, his image blurry and faltering in the places that mattered most. “I called the team-, I thought you were dead, oh fuck.”
“Jinnie, shut up. How far are they?”
“Your bleeding, this is all my fault-”
“It’s not, Jinnie. Listen to me, how far are they?”
“One minute, max.”
“Cool.”
You were awake when Hyunjin carried you bridal style. If you didn’t think you were dying, you might’ve been blushing. But you were getting blood on his baseball tee, and it wasn’t as romantic as you had imagined your wedding day to be. The adrenaline wore off, and the pain was the worst you had ever felt. You’d never been shot before, and now that you had been, it was kind of embarrassing. It hurt your pride. It was stupid, egotistical, but you were supposed to be stronger than all of them combined. That was the only way you were going to be taken seriously. You had maintained not crying until Chan said they needed to take out the bullet now. The pain from him pressing down on your wound would’ve been enough for you to start jerking away from your push, but you hadn’t. You wanted to appear strong, even if you wanted to burst into sobs and screams. You were holding up so well until he said that, so, so well. You could’ve been nominated for a goddamn grammy. It wasn’t until he dug his sterilized fingers into your torso that you realized you weren’t that good of an actor. A guttural, primal scream rang and escaped your throat as it happened, his fingers deep into your flesh.
“You can cry, ___, it’s okay.”
“Fuck you, Bang Chan!”
“You’re doing great, you’re not moving, just keep at it, okay?”
“Oh, fuck off!”
You were awake for the entire ride. How could they have forgotten their medical kit? When they knew shots have been fired? Maybe they were in a rush, maybe they weren’t. All you knew right now was pain, and you thought you would pass out for sure. There was only Chan in the van, and you were laid on the floor, Hyunjin was driving and every time he hit a pothole, you could feel it as Chan’s fingers dug to deep or into the sides. You should’ve been wondering where everyone else was, it should’ve crossed your mind to ask why the van was so empty, so barren. You could feel the blood Gerald's friend spat on your face dry. It smelled awful, and your face was covered in the peeling, sulfuric smell. When you heard the clattering of the metal hit the ground, it was almost a relief. But you suddenly felt so, so empty. Was it normal, to feel more blood seeping out? You were sure this wasn’t the protocol, the order in which things were supposed to happen. Was this a hazy paranoia, the guilt of betraying your father, the people who had given you everything in your life? It wouldn’t matter if you didn’t get out of this alive.
The unfortunate thing, however, was that you did.
Each arm was hanging across the shoulder of each boy, your shoulder’s wound seeping out blood, streaming down your chest. They opened the doors to the main building. You decided that Sir Hwang had some taste, after all, the white spiral staircases accented with golden plated encrusted on the railings. It was baroque, the ceiling. Exuberant, flashy, memorable. He had the Creation of Adam custom painted on the ceiling, funny wasn’t it. Your head was propped up, neck aching but you didn't want to look down at the trail of blood you were sure you were leaving. It was so theatrical, so intense, it was grand, it was rich. That was the purpose, wasn’t it? Make you feel small, worthless, everywhere you looked. The dome was so high, you swore it reached up for miles. It went up and up, it was unnecessary, a flash of money. But your head dropped, it fell, like Lucifer from the heavens when you heard his voice. Monotone and low, mocking almost, as usual. If you were looking up at God, his fingers reaching, pulling at Adam, you wouldn’t have to. But through your hazy, glass eyes, through your eyelids and lashes, a pleasant smile pulled at his face, almost unnaturally. ‘Memorable, isn’t it,’ you thought he said, but his lips failed to move.
“Put her out.”
Dear god? Oh, forget it. Fuck you, asshole!
Tumblr media
You wished you could say you were surprised. Turns out, Sir Hwang doesn’t forget, nor does he forgive. You wish that at least the chair was comfortable, and maybe the handcuffs were a little looser. Ironic, his choice of ties. The room was white and cramped. You should’ve been intimidated, maybe, but it wasn’t like you hadn’t learned about interrogation tactics. But you weren’t naive, nor were you stupid. He was lulling you into a false sense of security. You knew there was probably a mirror behind you, so you couldn’t even think about breaking your thumb to slip out. The metal chair was rusted, and you knew this because you could feel the pieces of rusted metal digging into your back. It was also tilted, one side of the legs shorter than the other. You smiled to yourself, at least you weren’t your father.
You weren’t gonna die a little lap dog. You were a bitch, but not the kind they wanted you to be.
You were getting bored, there was absolutely nothing in the room. There was a dull ache coming from your wounds, and you had expected for them to be left open, but from what you could tell, they were wrapped well. You heard the door open and looked up.
“Missed me, did you, sir?”
“Look at your use of formalities, darling. Almost convinced me you’re a good girl.”
You snorted, “Well, sir, you didn’t say you didn’t.”
“Oh, I did, ___. I’m gonna beat your pretty face to a pulp.”
“Take me to dinner first.”
He laughed at that, and you looked up at him smug, even after he struck you across your face. It hurt, and you could feel the sting ripple across your skin and rest in it. Your cheek throbbed, the blood rushing to the pain. “You’ve got some nerve, girl, huh?”
“Hm, maybe, you scared?”
“Of a little girl? No, never. You won’t be the downfall to the empire I built.”
You winked, “When did I say I wanted that? Maybe I just want to have some fun.”
Another strike across the face. “This is not a game you can play, child.” You saw him open the door, and pull out a record player. And you laughed, slightly deluded, more than daring.
“Can I make a request?”
The bandage on your wound ripped off. You smiled. “I know what you’re planning.”
“Oh? I’m planning something? Pray tell, sir.” He looked unamused, a twinge of frustration flickering across his face, and two fingers found their way into your wound. “Why don’t you tell me what I know? I might take my fingers out if you’re good.” Your throat was tight, holding down a wince as the cheery music played. “I’m already so good, sir. You planned the attack didn’t you? How’d that work out for you?” Strike three. His free hand was red, and you figured it hurt him just as much as it hurt you. His fingers were deeper in the wound now, and you grimaced. “Tell me what you know!”
“I don’t know shit!” you laughed, “But you’re being busted by the feds aren’t you? God, that must suck. Is that why you hired those guys? To get rid of the so-called mole you think I am? Getting desperate, aren’t you sir?” He placed both hands in both wounds deeply before pulling them out a few seconds later and you cried out, finally. Yelling out at the sharp, burning pain. You spat in his face, mostly in retaliation. “I expect you to be at work in the morning.” He should’ve seen that coming, but he left, wiping his face with his beloved little handkerchief.
You were a bitch, but not that kind.
Hyunjin’s team rushed in. Changbin unlocked your handcuffs, and Jisung cleaned your face- still dirty from Gerald’s friend’s blood, stilling stinging from the three strikes. Chan looked distressed, finally having a proper medical kit to clean your wounds. The alcohol burned, and even after the bleeding mostly stopped it still hurt. “Are you okay?” Changbin’s voice was tight, you were surprised to hear him sympathetic and concerning. “We were watching you both from the camera,” Jisung said softly, “Sorry.” Chan gave you a sad smile as he looked up from your wound. “He made us,” he said quietly, “But we wanted to make sure we were the first on the scene if you survived.”
If.
All Hyunjin did, however, was stand in the doorway.
How long can you play a role before becoming it?
Tumblr media
Out of all places you should be, out all places you could be. Here you were. Everyone but Hyunjin had insisted that they stayed with you, either to make you food or routinely clean your wounds. You appreciated it, you really did. You looked down at your hand, all wrapped up. You knew he was coming, you’d be more surprised if he didn’t. But you had your mind on more important things. It was barely audible what Changbin had said, a fleeting whisper. He was behind you, and passed casually in front, lips you weren’t even sure had moved.
“Whatever it is. I’m in.”
The koi pond they had built was large, you weren’t even sure it even really classified as a pond. You wished you had listened to Hyunjin. It was useless to wish, to plead for a change that could not be given to you. Time was unforgiving, it passed and it will continue to pass, regardless of how hard you cling to the past.
But you were only human.
Yes, you wished, you wished desperately that you had listened to his warnings, that you heeded them. It seemed outlandish when you were younger- you? Part of a mafia, a dynasty? You’d only seen that on T.V, when you were allowed, of course. You had lived your entire life on this estate, promised that this was the height of life. Why shoot for the stars if you’re already there, right? You stared at your reflection. It was you, of course, it was you, who else could it be? For a family so rich, so high and mighty but this was all you knew. Everything you knew, it was Hwang. Their family history, disassembling and reassembling various firearms, interrogations, and so on and so on. You knew there was so much you hadn’t experienced.
At least you had a phone.
You stepped away from the pond, watching the koi fish as you stepped backward, falling into his arms. “How do you feel?”
“I’m alive.”
“Are you living?”
“Too high of an expectation.”
 His touch was careful, gentle, scared almost. “Let me take care of you, ___, please.”
“Jinnie, I’m fine.”
“Please, please, just let me do this for you. If not for you, for me, please.”
This wasn’t an act. Unless he knew what you knew, and changed up his methods. He was smart, observant, and he could if he wanted to. You doubt it’d take much effort from his end. But you didn’t care. “Okay, Jinnie, okay.”
Tumblr media
 Neither of you could sleep. It hurt, it ached for him to have his arm so tightly wound against you. You knew he didn’t mean to hurt you, but he needed the skinship just as much as you did. He let you rest your head in the crook of his neck, you wish you could get closer to him, but you doubted your current state would appreciate the gesture. You had put your body through enough. Sir Hwang was trying to break you, it occurred. And you had reached your point. He could be watching right now, listening, laughing at you. But if you couldn’t cry in Hyunjin’s company, when could you? With your mourning mother? Your deceased father? Your room, which was most definitely rigged at this point? Hyunjin shushed you, thumb brushing away silent tears as he kissed them. You wondered how many times it had been that he kissed away your tears in this spare bedroom, even before you had really defined what this was. You guess the both of you just knew, it never really needed to be said. For example, Hyunjin hadn’t told his father- but you knew it would happen eventually.
“I love you,” he said, “and because of that, I know wherever I am- as long as we’re together, it’ll be okay.”
Tumblr media
You got up before him, happy to see him fast asleep. It was so much better this way, watching him rest. His breath steady, slow, unknowing. The edges of his lips were slightly curled, and you wondered what he was dreaming of. Hyunjin look so much more peaceful when he was asleep. It wouldn’t last you knew, but you have to take what you can get. You needed to hurry but still. You sat up, admiring him. It was the kind of thing he would do to you when he woke up early, trace his fingers over his face. ‘Memorizing the feel of your face when you finally look happy.’ He’d always call you some variety of a pet name, kitten, peach, doll, angel. He was a prince and you were his knight. Was this betraying him? If he knew, surely he couldn’t be upset? You brushed his hair out of his face, he was so sweaty. Hyunjin had always been under large amounts of pressure, if he loved you like you loved him, you couldn’t imagine the stress he was going through. Your thumb brushed his cheeks, he had been crying. Maybe you were in the wrong, maybe your sense of justice was skewed. You didn’t want to hurt him, but you couldn’t let this go on either.
He had comforted you all night, until the sun pushed itself back up into the sky. He would probably arrive late to the office, but as long as he got some rest. Your bandages were full of pus, yellow and sticky, clinging to your skin as you pulled the bandage to replace them. You sighed as you pulled at it, the skin pleading you not to, before hastily slapping the bandage back on. You stepped in your mother’s room, sitting on her bed to clean her face from tears and made sure she was tucked in. You cleaned up some of the trash from her room, and sighed, looking at her before you stepped back out. At least she was getting some rest. Maybe you were avoiding replacing the bandages, but at least you were being productive. You left breakfast on the table before finally stepping into the bathroom with a medical kit. The mirror was large, and your reflection looked so small in the midst of it all. Extravagant, exaggerated mirror. Was looking at the reflection of the wound better than looking directly at it? Probably. Did it hurt any less? Absolutely not.
You contemplated skipping, calling out of work to rest. If you were home, at least they wouldn’t suspect you of stealing information. Which, granted, you were. But they couldn’t prove it. Your neck was still bruised from last time’s happening, and a large bruise forming on the side of your face. Your breath hitched when you swore you saw Gerald’s friend behind you, his blood still on your face. The almost carousel like music blaring, but it disappeared.
Thy cup runneth over.
The heels you wore were beginning to dig into your heels, they were your mother’s, and even though you were the same size, it pinched the skin of your heel. You did your best to cover the bruises, and maybe they were noticeable, but you knew they were there. Even as you sat in the car, everybody doing their best to save face, you couldn’t be bothered. Sir Hwang didn’t win, not yet, but you weren’t sure you could handle much more stress.
“How’s the uh, wound doing?”
“Hm? Oh. Fine.”
“Any yellow stuff? Or-”
“Pus, yeah? I’ll manage, thank you, Chan.”
You wished Hyunjin was here, you wish this was one of your off days, you wish you stayed in that bed and slept all day.
You wish, you wish, you wish.
You were lacking at work, stuttering during phone calls, messing up schedules. You hadn’t seen Hyunjin come in yet, and you were happy he was resting, happier that he couldn’t see how undone you had become. He would worry too much, send you home, and then you would be all alone. Alone, or comforting your mother. It was selfish, you thought, but you were unsure if you carry the burden of two. Would you? Of course, if not you, who?
The worst of all of it was that everyone knew. Everywhere you went, constant whispering and snickering. You didn’t know what they knew, what they had been told. You were in a higher position in the hierarchy than them, albeit confined to the liminal spaces of your secretary desk- but still. Some of them were so entitled, calling you a poor little thing, asking if you need help to do simple tasks. It hadn’t gotten to you, you’d given them a glare or a lazy insult, not until a man from a different department patronized you in a way you could handle.
“Let me help you into the bathroom, little lady, I could pull down your panties-.”  You gave him a broken nose. It was a good punch too, a strong hook with your right hand even if you were pretty sure you injured the already busted hand. No one bothered you the rest of that hour. The day dragged on, lunch coming and going, and you still hadn’t seen any of Hyunjin’s team members. Changbin was nowhere to be seen, even though you had come into the office with them, gone up the elevator with him. Had you been outed? Jeongin wouldn’t do that, would he? For someone who worked in the mafia, you thought, you sure had a lot of confidence in these people. You had taken an almost suspicious amount of bathroom breaks, but at least the cups of water that sat in your wastebasket provided some security for whoever was watching you.
Maybe by your eighth trip to the ladies’ bathroom, you saw Changbin. He nodded at you, a regular greeting, another fleeting whisper. Fingers barely there, brushing against your blazer pocket.
You sat back at your desk, a scrap piece of paper lying on it.
 Another address, good fucking grief.

God, you there? Fuck, asshole, give me a sign! Anything!

RWBY Musings #64: A Squiggles Meister’s Views on the potential parallels between the RWBY V3 and V6 finales.
I’ve been saying this for a while now but I believe the CRWBY Writers might be gearing us fans up to have the V6 finale pay homage to the epic V3 finale or at least that’s my theory. So if I had to guess the parallels to V3 that might pop up during the V6 finale, here’s what I think they’ll be:
 Grimm Rampage through Vale ------ Grimm Rampage through Argus
During V3, the City of Vale got rampaged by hordes of Grimm including one colossal Grimm Dragon. I have been wondering what the point of the Wall of Argus was alluding to. I still stand by my previous hunch that something is going to come from beyond the wall to rampage the city. Either that’s the case or the one in my next parallel.
Grimm Dragon from Mountain Glenn ----- Grimm Hecatonchire from the Wall of Argus
A bit of a stretch but what if… there’s secretly a Grimm Titan like a Hecatonchire Grimm that’s secretly hidden inside the Wall of Argus. Since Cordo preached about her Atlesian ancestors helping to form Argus, imagine if those same ancestors put Grimm inside the Wall of Argus or built the city around one that’s been dormant for centuries just like the Grimm Dragon.
In the series, Attack on Titan, it was revealed in a later season that there were Titans in the actual walls that were supposed to keep humanity safe from the Titans. Imagine how cool it would be if a Grimm Hecatonchire suddenly immerged from the Wall of Argus in the same fashion as the Grimm Dragon in V3 and similar to its Dragon counterpart, it also brings forth legions of Grimm to prey on the innocent civilians of Argus, forcing the Argus Military to cease their pursuit of our heroes and take immediate charge to protect the citizens of Argus.
Huntsman vs Atlesian Paladins-----Huntsmen vs Atlesian Megazord
In V3, we got all the main huntsmen from different academies working together to defend Beacon against the swarm of corrupted Atlesian Paladins. Now in V6, it seems C10 set up out heroes who, may not be from different academies but represent the diversity of the kingdoms in a sense (minus Vacuo) going toe to toe against Cordo and her Atlesian Megazord.
Weiss Summons Armor Gigas against the Paladins---Weiss summon Armor Gigas against Cordo
In V3, we got Weiss summoning part of her Armour Gigas for the first time. Right now, Weiss’s trademark summon is the only thing that can grow to a size big enough to give Cordo’s giant megazord a run for its money provided she has the aura levels to do so. I’m sure if Jaune were to amplify Weiss’ aura, the same way he did with her last season and at the start of V6 with Ren, we could get our first ever giant robot vs giant armoured summon fight in the history of RWBY.
Velvet Weapon Reveal ----- Oscar Weapon Reveal
Need I say more? V3 was the first time we saw Velvet’s weapon and her semblance I think too in action. Who knows? If we play our cards right we might finally see what the Oz-cane can do at its true power because as a Pinehead, I have definitely been wondering what tricks to the Oz-cane Oz was talking about back in V5.
Cinder killed Ozpin ---- Neo kills Oscar
Now before my fellow Pineheads come at me with them pitchforks for daring to even theorize this, let me explain my hunch. What if…on the same level as Adam’s reappearance, Cinder Fall also shows her face in Argus and she targets Ruby as expected. So Cinder overpowers Ruby with Neo’s help and just as Neo is about the deal the final blow to Ruby, Oscar jumps in and takes it for her, right through the heart.
I have been hearing this whole thing about Neo doing something to make the fandom hate her going around for a while and I’ve even had one or two fellow FNDM come to me with the theory of Neo harming Oscar. Well here’s my rendition of that theory. What if…Neo goes in for the kill on Ruby but Oscar daringly jumps infront of Ruby to shield her and takes it. So Oscar is there on the ground on the cusp of death. Maybe to make the situation even more dramatic, he straight up does die in Ruby’s arms, shocking her and the fandom.
Then after Oscar technically dies, instead of going to the afterlife as one would expect or reincarnating, Oscar shockingly winds up in the Realm between Realms where he meets the God of Darkness, similar to how God of Light met with Ozma. To Oscar’s surprise, a reluctant Ozpin is also present. The God of Darkness then offers the two souls something neither could refuse. He offers them the chance to undo what his brother did centuries ago. As it turns out, the whole reincarnation thing was all Light’s idea because he still believed in humanity and that they could change.
Tumblr media
His brother felt the opposite but he did want to entertain himself a bit with his brother’s immortal pet. So he offers both Ozpin and Oscar the chance to undo his brother’s curse so that they may return to their normal lives free of having to be revived to continue his brother’s dirty work.
But he only offers the deed to one. In order to decide who gets to return to the land of the living, God of Darkness forces Oscar and Ozpin to fight each other one and one to see which soul gets revived only. And to Oscar’s surprise, Ozpin actually wants to fight him so that he can finally be free. So the two souls fight. Of course, Oscar wins and gets to go back but this time he’ll be revived by himself as himself. No longer will he have Ozpin’s voice inside of his head. He’ll be his own person again. He’ll be…alone; a comment made by a grief stricken Ozpin.
It’d be interesting if we could get an equivalent of Oscar calling out Ozpin in the same manner Ruby did to Qrow in V6 C10. Oscar scolds Ozpin for his words implying that he’s never been alone. He’s always had his people. His friends and so does Oscar and so long as they accept him and wish to keep fighting, so will he until his dying breath. His last dying breath in his now only life.
The God of Light’s curse was bestowed so that Ozma was never alone during his cycle but Oscar would be revived as himself without Ozpin. He will be the last incarnate. The last life. The last Wizard of Light. So as Ozpin goes to the afterlife, Oscar returns to the real world where he returns as himself to continue the good fight.
This parallel will probably not happen at all. Definitely not. But as always, I wanted to toss it out there just to entertain myself at the possibility, y’know what I mean?
Team JNPR dies with Pyrhha ---- Team JNPR is reborn with Oscar
Ya’ll know I’ve been saying this since the beginning, right? Ya’ll know how much I want that Team JNPR Revival with Oscar replacing Pyrhha right? I feel like these past two episodes are slowly gearing up to have this happen. Though I didn’t particularly enjoy C9, it did give me my biggest indicators of Jaune asking Oscar to join JNR.
That Pyrhha closure for JNR. Jaune mentioning in his own words how valuable Oscar is to the team. Bruh, at this point, I’m just waiting for this to come. I’m waiting on this conversation.
Cinder killed Pyrhha----Jaune kills Cinder
This one I’m a little iffy about. I know I’ve been waiting for Jaune to have Justice for Pyrhha moment with Cinder but after C9 I don’t think Jaune will be as angry to kill Cinder anymore. I mean, if Cinder turns into a Grimm monster or gets eaten by a Grimm only to fuse with said Grimm making her less human. Then I can see Jaune being the one to deal the final blow on Grimm Cinder. I’ve said this before too. If anyone deserves to kill Cinder, it’s Jaune.
I doubt the Writers will make him kill her as human but…if she turns into a Grimm then it’s a bigger possibility but that’s just me.
Adam vs Blake and Yang ----- Adam vs Blake and Yang The Remix
Duh. Just duh. This doesn’t even need to be on the list because it’s something the season has been alluding to all volume. Plus C10 already showed it happening. The only twist I can think of from this fight is if Adam dying at the end. I know some people like Adam as a character (like EruptionFang) but I really feel the Writers might be setting up for V6 to be Adam’s curtain call.
I can’t see Adam moving forward, not after the focus he’s been given this season. It’ll be interesting if Adam ends up dying in a similar fashion to Gaston from the Beauty and the Beast. Like he tries to stab Blake but ends up missing and falling to his death. Or maybe he ends up caught on the ledge and Blake tries to help him. Like I’m picturing Adam on the ledge with Blake offering him her hand only for Adam to refuse and fall to his death or something. That’s my hunch.
Then after the Adam fight is one and he’s no longer a thorn in their lives, the Bumblebee could finally have their closure with that. Who knows? Maybe they might make Bumblebee have a moment in the V6 finale. Instead of Blake crying over Yang getting hurt, it’s the two smiling at each other after being found safe together. Maybe they might even kiss, who knows? I’m not a Bumblebee shipper but if a kiss somehow happens between these two gals, I won’t be shocked. I can expect Yang to kiss Blake revealing she’s in love with her.
Again, I ship BlackSun but Bumblebee peaks my curiosity particularly with how Yang sees Blake. I’ve always viewed the Bees as being a ship driven by Yang mostly. Ironic since Yang’s motorcycle is also named Bumblebee. Any Bumblebee hints or vibes I’ve gotten throughout the seasons came mostly from Yang. I think Yang might care for Blake in the romantic sense. Blake I’m not sure about.
I don’t know if Bumblebee is in the cards. All I know is that I think the series has kind of dropped one or two hints about Yang’s true feelings that I’m waiting to see addressed in some shape or form in this remix rematch battle. If all the Bees do is hug then cool. But if they kiss, I’m just saying I won’t be shocked. But that’s just me.
 Arkos First Kiss ---- Renora First Kiss
Nothing serious, I just want to see these two kids kiss finally. And what would be great is if Nora and Ren kiss after the group save Argus. The Arkos first kiss was bittersweet because it was Pyrhha’s last chance to let the boy she loves know how she felt about him before she sacrificed herself. A Renora after battle kiss would mean hope and happiness. For Pete’s sake, it’s been six seasons, let these two kiss already you cowards!
Alrighty then, I think that’s all the parallels I have in mind. If I think of anymore I’ll add them to the list later. For now, enjoy guys!

To All The (Stray) Kids I’ve Loved Before | vi
Member: Minho/Lee Know
i  ii  iii  iv  v   vii  viii  ix
Tumblr media
“So, what about you?” Jeongin asked as I pouted “I got nothin.” I said. Every school in the area wanted students to choose an after school activity, and sadly, crying was not accepted. Jeongin decided to join a trot singing club, aka a trot version of Glee, Jisung and Changbin already had their rapping “club” and Yeojin was already doing gymnastics. I sighed and tried to think of what to do. I asked Seungmin, if he knew where I should go, but he advised that it would be best if I picked out the activity.
Something about actually enjoying myself in an after school activity and not just doing something because I have to or something...damn his smarts. But I did take his advice and try to think about something I was passionate about or wanted to do. Dancing came to mind and the idea stuck. I mean, there was a dance school next to my high school and everyone praised it. 2/3 being because of the dancing, 1/3 being because the teachers were apparently very attractive.
I decided to sign up at the dance school and I was very anxious for it. Mainly because it was something new and I was scared I wouldn’t get along with anyone or that I wouldn’t be good at it. My anxiety got bigger as the date of the first dance lesson approached. Dance lessons every Monday, Wednesday and Friday meant less spending time with my friends. But that also meant I would get to get away from seeing the guys’ faces, which made me want to punch them, due to my confusing feelings towards them.
The first dance lesson on Monday finally arrived and I wasn’t exactly jumping with joy. I got to the dance room where I saw many people already stretching, so I decided to do the same. “You new here?” A girl with ashy blonde hair next to me asked “Yeah, is it obvious?” I asked “Nah, just haven’t seen you around yet. I’m Minyeon, I’ve been dancing here for 2 and a half years now, I’m basically teacher level, so if you ever need help anything, feel free to ask me.” She answered “Thanks.” I replied.
I was happy there was at least one person who was nice to me here.....she seemed really friendly and I kinda gravitated towards her all through the lesson. After the lesson, she invited me to go get drinks with some of the other dancers. We went to a near by cafe where they talked about the dance school and tried to explain everything I might need to know at the dance school.
“Thanks for explaining and taking the time to talk to me about it. I really appreciate it.” I said “Nonsense. We treat each member of this school with as much respect as possible. And we try to talk to each other as often as possible so we have great teamwork.” Minyeon said “Which reminds me, I hear there’s a new teacher who’s gonna start teaching new week and apparently he was BTS’ backup dancer, so you know he both talented and cute.” She added.
As the conversation went on, so did the day, so eventually we all paid for our drinks and went home. I finally got good WiFi, as the mobile data in the cafe was garbage and the WiFi was nonexistent, which meant getting 25 unread messages from the group chat me, Jeongin, Jisung, Yeojin and Changbin are in, Seungmin and Minyeon.
Minyeon
Hey, Minyeon here! just wanted to text you, so you get my number haha. Anyway, see you Wednesday!
Seungmin
End me 🙃
This activity is horrible😒
I thought babysitting was suppose to be fun, not a living nightmare
I want my tutoring job back🙃
Please tell me your failing a class 😫
Also, how did the dance lessons go?

Dessert Fox🖍❤️
Hey, what’s up, it’s your boy,.....star of trot Glee😏
Yeojin🤪💗
Glad you’re enjoying it. There’s some new people here because of this whole activity thing and they are so annoying
Squirrel Boi🐿🧡
And this ladies and gentlemen, is why you make your own club, in order to do nothing and not have to do some stupid after school activity
....
I replied to all of them before falling asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. The next day, Yeojin was ranting while Jisung and Changbin were gloating. The whole day was just a big pain, as I felt all of the exercise pain from yesterday beginning to start, which made me come to the dance lessons on Wednesday earlier, allowing me more time to stretch and prepare.
“Oh, sorry, didn’t know anyone would be here yet.” I said seeing that there was a man in the dance room. “Oh it’s fine, I was just warming up for my next class.” He said “Are you by any chance in the same class a Minyeon?” He asked as I nodded “Aaa! My new student! Nice to meet you, my name is Minho.” He said “I’m Y/N.” I introduced myself back “I’m quite new at this whole teaching thing, so if I’m a bit weird or awkward, please excuse my behaviour.” He warned “No, it’s fine, I’m new here too actually.” I reassured. “Oh, so we’re in this together then.” He chuckled.The time went by and more of the dancers arrived, but before anyone else arrived, Minho disappeared to the teacher’s room, I’m guessing. Minyeon greeted me before starting to stretch, which was quickly interrupted by Minho walking into the room.
“Hello, I am Minho, your new dance teacher. I’m new to teaching, so I apologize in advance.” He said, making the whole class giggle, resulting in me overhearing some “omg he’s cute”s and “he’s really attractive”s. “Anyway, shall we start? Are you all warmed up?” He asked as we all nodded “Great! So let’s begin our lesson.” He clapped his hands and smiled before putting on the music and showing us the first moves for us to get the vibe of the dance. His body moved as if he had no bones and I had to admit that I did maybe check him out several times, not only during his dance but also the lesson itself.
After the lesson, I felt like I was lacking in some parts of the choreography, so I stayed after everyone left and approached Minho. “Um, one question, would it be possible for you to show some moves again? I can’t really wrap my head around some of them.” I said, with an uncertain tone. “Oh, of course. Which ones?” He asked as the “private” lesson went on. “You’ve got the hang of it! Remember, if you feel like you need any more private lessons, I’m always here, ok?” He asked, smiling again before I nodded and thanked him. “See you on Friday!” I said before leaving the room.

Yeojin🤪💗
Wassup, my homie
Me
First of all, never call me that
Like ever again
Second of all, I GOTTA NEW TEACHER AND HE CUTE
Yeojin🤪💗
OMG SPILL
I explained everything to her before finally going to bed, feeling way too exhausted to stay awake for even a second longer. Friday came around quickly and my anxiety had turned into excitement. The lessons became more fun and more exciting. Minho brought some type of chill atmosphere to the lesson and it became so much fun to attend these lessons and before I knew it, our first performance was near. I was excited but also scared I would mess the choreography up badly, asking Minho for those extra lessons.
“Your hip should be-May I?” He asked, his hand above my hip as he looked into the mirror to which I nodded and gulped. He put his hand on my hip and guided my hips to the rhythm. The move wasn’t very sexual or suggestive, it was a more cute and fun dance so my heart wasn’t beating faster because of the hip movement. It was mainly because I didn’t expect him to be this close. Through out the whole lesson, he was very close, which made my heart beat extremely fast, making me confused and unfocused, causing me to trip over my own legs and falling onto the ground with a lot of force.
I felt a bit of tears start to form in the corners of my eyes and a pain growing in my leg. “Omg, are you ok?” Minho bent down to me before trying to examine my leg. “It doesn’t feel broken, it’s probably just a big bruise...hold on.” He said as he got up to go get a first aid kit as I tried to get the ends of my legging higher so I could see the bruise. “Owww.” I commented at my own leg. It looked very bad, so I tried not to look at it too much. Minho came back and started patching up my leg. Once he was done, he helped me stand up, but with my new injury, I could barely stand properly, so I leaned into him for balance, which made my face turn really red.
I called my parent to pick me up, and Minho helped me to the car. “I hope your leg feels better, but I don’t think you should come to practice, you should rest, ok?” He said “No, I have to come, just to watch, if nothing else.” I said as he sighed and agreed to my idea.
The next time I came to practice, I had alreqdy gotten a crutch for my leg, causing every one of my dance teammates to tell me how I should rest. I tried to calm their worries by saying I’m only gonna watch, as I don’t want my minor injury to effect my dancing. Minho arrived into the room and told me to sit at the teacher’s corner and observe before starting the lesson. As the team went over the dance a few times, Minho came and sat next to me.
“How’s your leg?” He asked “It doesn’t hurt that much, the doctor said I’ll be good enough to dance till next Wednesday.” I said, happily “Do you think that’s gonna be enough time to study the choreography?” He asked as I remembered the performance is the Monday after the week I can start dancing again. “I don’t know, I would hope so, but I doubt it.” I answered, my tone getting sadder with every word. “It’s fine, don’t be sad about it, there’s always next performance!” He said, trying to cheer me up “Yeah, you’re right.” I replied, looking at the ground “Hey, you ok?” He asked, trying to see my reaction “Yeah.” I looked up at his face.
It was like he was examinating my face for any traces of sadness. “I’m not leaving until you smile.” Minho informed “What are you, Gordon Ramsey?” I joked, making him laugh. “It’s good that you haven’t lost your spirit, keep it up, I don’t wanna see a frown today, ok?” He smiled at me, waiting for my answer. I nodded and smiled back at him before he turned around and started teaching again.
He was very sweet the whole class, he kept checking up on me and making sure I don’t feel uncomfortable. At the end of the class, he helped me get to the elevator. “You know, I admire your passion. You didn’t have to come, you could have stayed at home and rested...but you didn’t. I see how much this means to you.” Minho said, waiting for my reaction as we stood in front of the elevator “Thanks.” I blushed and looked at the floor “You’re cute when you do that.” “Do what?” I looked up at him while being confused and probably looking like a tomato. “Look at the ground when you’re nervous or blushing.” He answered, making me blush even more.
Before I could answer, the elevator arrived and he stepped into the small room with me. “You don’t have to, if you don’t want to.” I said before he hit the button for the main floor “Nonsense! You could get lost in this big space!” He joked, making me laugh and look at the ground again “You did it again.” He smiled “sorry I-“ “Don’t apologize, i said it was cute, remember?” He reminded, which resulted in me matching one of the red walls of the elevator. “You have something on you face.” He said as I tried to look at the mirror before he put his hand on my face. “It’s just an eyelash.” He explained as I realized how close we are again, looking down, making him realize as well. “I-“ I tried to say something, but my mind was blank. He stared at my face, waiting for any reaction before I felt his stare and looked at him. Our eyes were focused on each other and that’s when his eyes quickly made their way towards my lips and back to my eyes. Next thing I knew, he was leaning in as his eyes were closing and I panicked. I took a deep breath before mimicking his actions.
*Ding*
Right as our lips were about to touch, the elevator door opened, making us pull apart. “Oh, um, I’ll see you next lesson, then.” I said before quickly making my way out of the elevator “Um, yeah, see you then!” He said before pressing a button to get back up. I made my way to the car as I sighed and closed my eyes. So close.
Throughout the lessons, Minho still checked up on me and my leg, but there was an awkward aura everyone could sense, resulting in the members asking me about it, and me answering that it’s probably just in their minds. I couldn’t stop thinking about it though. His lips were so close to mine and he smelled so good. If my mind was like this after almost kissing him, I wonder what it would be like after actually kissing him. I tried to distract my mind and not think about the almost kiss or Minho, which was hard, as I kept staring at him during the lessons and I’m pretty sure everyone noticed.
Minyeon💃🏻
Omg, your crush on Minho is so obvious😂 calm down the heart eyes lol
Me
For your information, i do not have a crush on him, my eyes just happen to drift towards him and then resemble hearts, ok 😤
Minyeon 💃🏻
Sure 👀
The day of the preformance finally arrived and I decided to come before it actually started, to cheer them on. I didn’t have my crutch anymore, but I couldn’t dance with them, so I felt really bad and guilty about it, even if they kept reassuring me that it was fine. Minho came into the room with a suit, making me “heart eyes” literally form heart eyes. He looked so good in that suit, that I forgot about the conversation I was having with Minyeon and the other dancers. “Heart eyes.” Minyeon teased, making the other dancers chuckle and me playfully slap her arm. It was time for them to preform and I sat next to Minho throughout the whole ceremony and commented about how no team can compare to ours.
“You call that dancing? My cats could do better!” He whispered to me “You have cats?” I said, excitedly “Yeah, wanna see them?” He asked, his tone resembling a proud mom. “Duh.” I said as he took out his phone and showed me a picture “That one is named Soon-ie and this one is named Doong-ie.” He said “Awwweeee, cute.” I awed at the two cats “just like their owner.” I whispered to myself “What was that?” He asked “Nothing” I answered, smiling. “They’re a pain sometimes but when they’re that cute, you don’t mind.” He joked, making me chuckle.
Our team preformed really well and we hyped them up so much during the preformance, some of the people near us told us to be quieter, resulting in some awkward silence fro us. After the preformance, Minho decided to treat the whole team as they all cheered. I congratulated and praised them all before making my way to the door. “Where are you going?” Minho asked “You’re apart of this team too, come on.” He added, making me smile as we went to a near by restaurants, where we toasted to Minho and the team (with Coca Cola).
He kept looking at me during the meal and Minyeon even smirked at me at times, raising her eyebrow and “taking a selfie” which was really just a sly way of taking a photo of me and Minho. She later sent me that photo, almost giving me a heart attack. “So, thank you all for your hard work, it paid off and I hope you all continue to show your passion and talent! You did great!” Minho said as a goodbye before the members all left.
“How are we always left alone?” He asked me “I’m waiting for my parent to pick me up, I don’t know your excuse.” I joked as he chuckled. “Why are you looking at me like that?” I asked, blushing “I don’t know, you’re just real cute.” He answered, still staring. I blushed, looking at the ground before hearing his chuckle “As always.” He commented “Hey, leave me and my shyness alone!” I joked before a stranger bumped into him accidentally, causing Minho and I’s distance to minimize. “Oh, hi.” He chuckled, realizing our faces are centimeters apart “Hi.” I said back before I found myself in the same situation as in the elevator. But this time, there was no *ding*. His lips touched mine and we both just stood there, kissing for about half a minute before pulling away and looking at each other, both of us not knowing what to do or say.
“Oh, I gotta go, that’s my ride.” I said, looking over and seeing a car approach. “Ok, well, um, good night!” He said calmly “Good night!” I said before making my way into the car and driving off.
Dear Minho,

No one has heard of a seducer greater than Kim Donghan
he had cherry lips, shielding a bitterly sweet tongue
he walked with a wicked stride, confident and narcissistic
Donghan was fresh out of school, just a 20 year old
yet, the neighbourhood gossip column stated he had wormed his way into the heart of a much older woman
she was his classmate’s mother
the reason he spent all night flattering her with sweet nothings and a couple of deep kisses?
likely because he wanted free alcohol for himself
why had he gone to that particularly expensive club only open to the guest list?
because his best friend and partner in crime, Hyunbin, had gotten free entry for both of them
troublemakers, those two
Donghan would go to that extent for free drinks
and he had the highest alcohol tolerance out of the people in his class
crazy
all the caused was chaos
Donghan would seduce anyone, anything, for whatever reason
if it was given by his other best friend, the aristocratic Kim Sanggyun
or if he felt like it was worth the chase and effort
some people nicknamed the trio TriK
Tri for three
K for Kwon and double Kim
and TriK for how deceiving they look
they trio played pranks on everyone and anyone
their other close friends, Taehyun, Kenta and Yongguk were helpless to stop them
tbh they didn’t really care as long as Taehyun did not have to wake up at 3am to bail Hyunbin out of jail
besides, it wasn’t like TriK to be so mundane and muted
they just bore too bright and wild personalities
Taehyun let out a disgruntled sigh. ‘Donghan, if I receive one more angry text for a heart broken person, I’m doing to snap your neck.’
Donghan simply shrugged, a knowing grin on his face
people liked to think Taehyun was the most responsible in the clique and often went to him for advice or to take revenge on Donghan
like Donghan ever cared about what his hyungs had to say about him
they too had given up long ago and just let him carry out his activities
it wasn’t like seducing was fatal
or was it?
‘Hyung, don’t be mad. I’m here, I bought you your favourite sushi from Tokyo! Cheer up!’ lovesick Hyunbin attempted to lift Sanggyun’s sulky mood.
he only pressed his lips into a thin line and twirled his chopsticks in his hands
‘it isn’t fair how she just moves on so quickly just two years after she signed divorce papers,’ he seethed. ‘Does she want the chairman or does she want JK group?’
it had been a long day of settling unpleasant affairs
to begin with, Sanggyun was forced to attend some gala that his mother’s company, Myeong Jeong Healthcare had organised
smile for the cameras
talk to stuck up ‘friends’ or ‘diplomatic allies’ who cared about nothing else than the Kim family’s bank account
entertain guests
To end the dessert course on the sweetest note possible, his mother announced her engagement to JK Group’s chairman
more commonly addressed as Kim Donghan’s father
Donghan too was obliged attend and witnessed the announcement
It was too soon after his father had erased any trace of him from his life
throwing out of the family home just hours after Donghan’s graduation ceremony
Donghan had disappeared shortly following the loud declaration
he was last seen driving off in a red sports car that was not registered under his name
Sanggyun had finally released all his pent-up frustration, throwing wine glasses at walls and crunching him up in his hands
his shouts shook the whole building from the carpark level
Hyunbin’s effort was useless
Sanggyun was not to be stopped
in the end, Sanggyun had to be hospitalised because of his injuries and emotional distress
obviously, he wasn’t one for bland hospital food so Hyunbin had made sure to grab his favourite
meanwhile, Donghan was out somewhere by himself, most likely equally traumatised
the next day, Donghan paid Sanggyun a visit
‘I can’t stand this,’ Sanggyun whined, referring to his hospital gown and IV drip.
which Hyunbin had been desperately tried to keep in place
uhh by preventing Sanggyun from ripping it out
perhaps he also meant that he couldn’t stand Donghan’s dad marrying his mum
‘Let’s go somewhere, do something,’ Donghan suggested.
‘whenever you say that...you mean let’s go clubbing...’ Hyunbin raised his eyebrows
his friend’s lips stretched into a smile. ‘Why not? I know of a new club that just opened.’
Hyunbin crossed his arms over his chest, pressing his lips into a thin line. ‘I think it’ll be best if we just called pizza and chicken in. Right, Sanggyun? You love that chicken place down the road.’
how the hell am I going to manage to emotionally unstable drunk boys?
‘Actually,’ Sanggyun began, tearing at his IV drip. ‘Checking out that new club sounds nice and we’ll call pizza in to cure the hangover.’
he wanted the thick liquid to burn as it slipped down his throat
Donghan felt like he just needed the adrenaline from clubs, maybe grab a drink or two but he didn’t feel like inhaling alcohol tonight
he just wanted some time away from all the chaos
hyunbin knew the night wasn’t going to end in the most spectacular fashion but that never stopped him from hopping in
‘There are too many nurses and security on duty as of now,’ Donghan hissed, teeth gritted
the quicker they left and arrived back the better
less suspicious
less problematic
less chaotic
a bundle of black nylon was shoved into his hands.
unravelling the package, his hands met with sturdy rope
‘hyung, you never come unprepared,’ he whispered in disbelief. His hyungs were always so unpredictable
Hyunbin locked the door behind him as Donghan pushed the window open
they were lucky to have gotten such a hospital ward
imagine if the windows were sealed
but no, Sanggyun threw a fuss about how he was allergic to some chemicals
the contractor was in to redo some windows of different wards
Sanggyun hastily slipped into the different set of clothes and fluffed up the blanket to make it look like he was asleep
with a thud, the rope landed on the other side of the wall
the knot reeling to keep it secure
under the pastel hues of sunset, three boys shimmied down the wall of a hospital
the moon reached its peak by the time they set off for an adventure
~
for Kim Donghan, getting into some of the city’s most exclusive clubs was no big deal
he just had to cut the line and give the bouncer a small smile before the velvet rope was pulled back and he was ushered through the doors
he did frequent clubs quite a bit
but most of the time it was to meet Hyunbin or Sanggyun
it didn’t necessarily mean he got hammered 24/7
he just found the atmosphere one to suit his mood at given times
strobe lights, loud music, the scent of sweat and alcohol almost seemed more welcoming than the icy draft that wafted through his ‘father’s’ house
a/n: in the drama, a reason why Sihyun gets kicked out is as he isn’t the legitimate son of his ‘father’
from what I know
please don’t spoil it for me 😬🙏🏼
Donghan takes on Sihyun’s role, Sanggyun as Sooji and Hyunbin as Sejoo
but tonight, Donghan just feels like having a beer before napping on the plush seats in the VIP lounge
there was no room for hooking up or ruining someone’s ego today
that was his plan
if he succeeded in getting through the insane VIP line
usually, the VIP line would have one - the most two people - in it
however, tonight was strangely packed
he was Kim Donghan
if there was an event, he would have been informed of it by his contacts
but he hadn’t even heard anything on the grapevine about tonight
weird
Sanggyun was beginning to get impatient, worried about how he was going to explain himself to his mother should they be caught
‘I’ll go check out the situation up front.’ Donghan pushed and squeezed his way through until he could see the doors
after some eavesdropping, he concluding the club was hosting someone’s birthday
‘hey, you!’ someone yelled. ‘Don’t cut the line, dick move.’
Donghan wanted to roll his eyes but he controlled himself, flashing his signature grin that made even people with the most concrete hearts melt into a puddle of cement
unfortunately, it only earned him an icy cold glare from the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen
oh, how he wished they would be filled with adoration instead of annoyance
the girl it’s been so long since we specified genders scoffed at him, then returned to chatting with her friends
Donghan felt a pang of guilt - an emotion he rarely felt
he slipped back into his spot in the queue
thankfully, Sanggyun and Hyunbin were too engaged in a chitchat to mind him much
staff came a few minutes later to clear the customers into the club
Donghan ignored the bar and the impressive array of drinks, mood spoiled by the earlier interaction
for the next half an hour, he spent it wallowing on the VIP room couch, crunching on the occasional snack
red had spread across Sanggyun’s face like a sunburn as he sipped his brew
Hyunbin was more concerned about keeping his friends sober than drinking
but we all know this boy can drink
‘this is no fun,’ Sanggyun started to whine. ‘We came to forget about being sad but we’re just crying in the club.’
‘it’s better than sobbing in the hospital,’ he added quietly
• Hyunbin nudged Donghan in the ribs. ‘Come on, our little seducer, who do you fancy tonight?’
Donghan stared off into space, propping his face in his hands, his mind not even pondering about it.
carelessly, he replied, ‘I’ll talk to whoever walks through the doors next.’
that person would mostly be someone he was already acquainted with
you had to be extraordinary to access the VIP lounge
TriK was no exception
His friends snickered. ‘Done deal.’
Donghan did NOT expect the next person to be you
he regretted his words
such an impetuous comment, what a grave mistake
Sanggyun threw his hands into a clap, pouting lips tugged into a smirk
‘there’s your target, Romeo.’
swearing, Donghan took a sip of Hyunbin’s beer
he observed as you approached the private bar and perched on one of the barstools, chatting up the mixologist like he was your best friend
nerves began to settle into his stomach like never before
whatever
I’ve done this more than a billion times, what could be so different about this one?
Donghan moved to the twin barstool before anyone else could take his place
he winked at the bartender, cueing his usual drink
seeing it was the insolent young man you had previously encountered, you edged further away from him
‘waiting for someone?’
you turned at the sound of his deep voice, meeting his sultry smirk and dark eyes
sucking back a snarky reply, you only uttered a finite ‘yes’.
‘shall I accompany you?’
such a try hard
you refrained from rolling your eyes, instead, you sent a killer smile his way
‘no need. I don’t associate myself with people like you,’ you bit back
ouch,,, that has got to sting
panicked, Donghan sampled his drink, brain clogs reeling to come up with an answer
he feigned nonchalance, shrugging his shoulders which shifted his shirt to show off a pair of defined collarbones
‘excuse me.’ you began to slip out of your seat. ‘I came here with a purpose and with friends, so...I’m not wasting any more time with you.’
arrows shot into Donghan’s heart and smashed it into smithereens
the feeling he had was completely foreign, they felt like cupid’s arrows
he was baffled by the new wave of emotions
hmm cupid had spoken, there would be another chance won’t there be?
~
‘who cares?’ your best friend yelled after hearing your story. ‘He’s so hot! There won’t be any strings attached anyway. That’s why we came anyway, isn’t it?’
you cringed, pulling a face at her reaction
he was kind of hot though...
‘you HAVE to grab him before others do! I see he’s caused quite a stir.’
her words were true, quite a number of people swarmed that guy and his bunch of friends as they emerged from the VIP lounge
I’ll see if he makes a move first
your glass slams down on the table, making your way to the dance floor
across the club, Donghan spots your figure immediately
he keeps his eyes trained on you as you sway to the music, moving your hips to the beat
to your surprise, Donghan simply flittered off into the crowd without even making eye contact
oh
disappointment flooded you for some odd reason
an hour ago, you were disgusted by his presence and even shooed him off
now, you wanted his attention...desperately
blame the hormones
still, this sort of behaviour was so unlike yours
@ spiked alcohol
don’t spike anyone’s alcohol, that shit ain’t cool and it’s so gross and uncalled for
you retired to a quieter corner of the bar, feet aching from the killer heels
you felt someone’s arm lean against the bar counter, trapping you in your seat
‘where’s your friend?’ the same voice asked.
‘hmm, not here right now,’ you whispered, voice low. ‘But you are.’
Donghan chose to ignore your latter comment, playing hard to get.
‘having a fun night?’ he made sure his eyes met yours for at least 10 seconds before breaking away for 11 seconds
you paused, deliberating on your answer.
yes or yes but in italics
doing something crazy for once wouldn’t hurt you
‘no,’ you replied, tone huskier than before. ‘not without you.’
damn sweetie wyd
before you knew it, Donghan’s lips were inches away from yours, beckoning you to close the gap
ask before you kiss anybody
your lips captured his and his hands trailed down the curves of your waist, finding their seating on your hips
I’m reading my bible 8 times after this brb
he tasted like sour lemon and spicy vodka, tampered with a hint of cherry cola
his lips were plump and experience, puckered at a certain angle, tilted to a certain degree
it was electrifying, terrifying almost
unintentionally, you pressed closer to him, only craving more
and causing a whirlwind of pretty butterflies to flutter in his stomach
idk shit abt kissing too i’ve only kissed my dog
Donghan finally pulled away to catch a breath, his hands left your form and rested on the seat of the barstool instead
*denies second kiss* • he was toying with you, making you crave more, driving you insane with his teasing
‘tell me your name,’ you demanded, cheeks heating up
he chuckled in response, deep and growly yet playful
‘It’s Donghan.’
Donghan moved to the other side of the bar, possibly only to get water but you followed him - not with just your eyes
he kept you company, offering small tipsy talk but refused any of your further advances
from time to time, he made a flirtatious remark or played with your hair, maybe dropped a compliment or two
you forced yourself to respond neutrally to them
eventually, his friends caught up with him
one was flushed pink and the other was supporting him
they needed him to leave
‘when will I see you again,’ you blurted out. ‘I want to.’
Donghan only smiled, giving your hand a light squeeze
it was unclear if his gestures were out of assurance or a farewell
you had to see him
some unexplainable attraction willed you to
you would hanker after him if you had to
‘you want to know more, you’ll have to cave into the chase, sweetheart.’
how sweet
you didn’t understand why people got themselves dead drunk at clubs when they could do this instead

Scoldings
Mondays, 11:45 pm, Sun's Dusk
Her delicate fingers combed gently through his blonde hair. He had moved from his sister's home in Riverwood so he may take up shield closer to Y/N's home. Much too close to his king for his taste, with only a wall between them and the Palace of the Kings.
   It took weeks, few moons even to rid Windhelm of it's murderer, it's serial killer no longer walked the streets selecting women. At the thought of his four victims he'd taken before she could stop him, her stomach would twist in knots. Had she acted sooner, had she rode North sooner... Had I not put the wrong man in irons.. No. Those thoughts took her into the deepest recesses and darkest corners of her tormented mind. It's where the worst of her memories festered, undesturbed. The dreaded one to make her more tense than life slumbered there, he had witnessed it by her side. Through many close calls, many stories of how she'd gotten the scars across her skin. She'd never been that helpless, victimized girl. And never will be again.
  My face thrown down onto the chopping block, already slick against my cheek from the blood of the man before me. He'd done nothing wrong but fight for the country and the king he believed in. It could have been Rolaf's blood. He woke me gently in the carriage, asked me to pray for my soul, for the imperials would not. The beating in her chest grew mildly more rapid knowing one second sooner it may have been her lovers head in the basket before them all. My gaze forcibly lowered closer down due to the leather and steel boot between my town up shoulder blades.
    Never had she seen twenty five winters before being drawn back to the warmth in Hjerim. Rolaf's head lay in her lap and his thumb rubbed thoughtful circles against her side. It was skin against nothing but skin after the nights they often shared together. His breathing was shallow and he slowly opened his eyes noticing her fingers were motionless in the long strands of hair at the nape of his neck. She was quick to continue as soon as she'd been found out. Rolaf had a way of knowing what was in her mind. The girl's thumb and forefinger rolled the small braid that lay against his cheek.
    "Each time I see you, you've gained a new bruise or wound, recently sewn shut." It's just above a whisper from low in his throat. His gentle fingers traced the outline of a reddened scar on her side.
    "You worry too much over my safety. I'm not so easy to kill as you may clearly think."
     He groaned against your thigh. It wasn't the first failed attempt to make her understand. But to an extent she could see the termoil her travels caused as though  physically pushing him into a corner. Neither had ever felt this before. So intense a concern for another person, a need far beyond want that buried itself as deeply inside their chests as possible. It tugged on loose strands every chance it got.
    "Rolaf?"
     He let out a frustrated breath as his only response that he would hear her out.
    "You know what I've accomplished. Vampire Lords, the World Eater, Thalmor, the Daedric princes. Each of them-ive lived through each and every one of them." Her tense and bare back remained to the wall but finger tips now tread lightly over his muscular shoulder blades. "You see their tributes hanging upon my walls. How can you worry about me?"
    "How old are you, love?"
    It's a rhetorical question but she patiently took the bait anyway. "Twenty four. Twenty four winters, twenty five summers. You know this, why do you ask?"
     "At twenty four, how much do you know of the world?" His arms wrap tighter around the hips he knew every detail to.
     "Were I to die the way you fear, I would die knowing far too much. So much darkness, so little light. Though when you find a thin ray it's all you can see. " Thoughtful eyes seek his out and capture the blue orbs when he looks up. "I know I worry for you."
    "Well, I know I love you. I couldn't let any harm befall you, even if you hurt me. Pierced me deeply, taken what little hope I have left." Rolaf pulles himself up onto his elbow.
   Y/N smiled softly. Love is a rare exchange between just the two of them, late at night with no one around to overhear. Her brightened smile grew dim and sink down beside him in bed.
    "I go to the capital for trade. My thoughts race, so many soldiers, so many imperials. I can never focus when each and every one of them wanting your head cut from your body. Still."
    "I know." His arm stretches out and his calloused fingers caress her soft cheek. She turned a cheek into his warm touch.
    "You don't."
    "I do, my love. When we met, even then I knew. Your temple was bleeding while you were knocked out in the carriage. My brother in arms and I watched over it. It was our only indication you were still alive."His fingers brush her silky hair from her temple. It was barely long enough to brush her shoulders. Practical for warfare. "It seemed... Like hours before you woke. I felt it so early as I explained where we were, what happened to you. When I heard your voice for the first time it held such venom. I knew then why they would rather you be unconscious." Planting light kisses across her skin he breathed in the smell of her neck. "I thought maybe you'd kill them all if you weren't bound at the wrist. Yet, when they'd dragged you to the block you seemed defeated. I do know the terror of it."
   "You-" she began with tears glossed over her bright eyes. It was a sight he'd seen often of late. Stress and despair having built up to unbearable strength. But he had never to that day witnessed any tears fall. The pain and sorrow would channel itself into anger before they had the chance. Still he could feel it radiate off her body.
    There was a soft knock on the door putting their conversation to an untimely end. Three other souls slept in the house. The housecarl who knew better than to interrupt, the ill behaved dawnguard dog, and the young boy who adopted him. Y/N threw her short legs over the side of the bed and quickly dressed. An instant passed before she threw Rolaf's breeches to him while on the way to the door. He was dressed and sat at the table in the both of their chamber before the door opened to her adopted son. The day she brought the boy to Hjerim from Dawnstar, clothed him, fed him, allowed him to call her mother though a sister would be more likely. It made the stormcloak grin. She was indescribably dangerous and easy to anger, but truly wanted to save everyone.
   Kneeling in the doorway before the child who's face was streaked with tears.
   "Alesan? Love, what's wrong?" Obvious worry flashed across your soft features.
   His chest heaved a few times out of breath. The young redguard had attempted a stoic expression but it was far from believable.
   "I dreamt it again."
    She'd learned early on that his mind was prone to nightmares of when the people in Dawnstar were allowed no sleep. He'd envisioned the priests of Varmina and the Skull of Corruption when no adult in the hold could. For that reason alone she never brought daedric artifacts through the door, in fear of making his nightmares worse. It was almost as if he could feel how tainted and evil they were. As if he would shatter just from contact.
    "Alesan, when I lifted that curse upon the townspeople, do you know what I did?"
    He shook his head while she dried his cheeks with the palms of her sleeves.
    "The tower was an evil place. There's only one thing to do to evil, do you understand? You purify it. Make sure it cannot hurt anyone again. There's far too much evil in this world and I will always-" she tilted his chin up. "Always, keep it away from you."
   Across the room Rolaf pours a goblet of wine while watching the exchange.  The child's eyes meet his for confirmation. It brings a grin to his lips.
   "Alesan, you better believe her. Your mother scares the twilight's out of evil."
    Her boys both worried each time she left,every time the bag was packed and their white and black dog allowed his harness strapped. Though her son had far less understanding of what she did beyond the city gates, the danger she placed herself in each day. Only to trust that she would leave to help people.
  He threw his arms around Y/Ns neck tightly.
   "I'm always coming back."  She whispered to him and kissed his cheek refusing to rush his embrase to an end. Her curiosity grew. "Alesan, where's Sceolang?"
     Rolaf smirked knowing all too well what the boy's answer would be. She had fought them both on the topic from the moment the husky stepped foot inside the home.
    "Er...in bed downstairs."
    Lips tighten into a hard line. After her long evening with Rolaf there was no energy left to argue about the dog stealing her son's bed. Taking up more room than is warranted for an animal of his size.
    "Tonight only, love. Are you better now?" He nodded in answer to the question. "Sceolang will watch over you as you sleep. No harm will come."
     Moments later the boy nodded on his way out. He turned looking back to his mother's green yes. "And Rolaf will take care of you?"
    Before she could comment,  she heared Rolaf respond for her with to wide shiteating smirk.
    "I'll take very good care of your mother." His suggestive tone moved straight over Alesan's head but she narrowed her disapproving eyes and dropped her jaw.
The boys said their goodnights and the door was closed heavily. The scowl Rolaf knew well made him nearly choke but that blighted smirk never shifted. She so calmly set down the goblet in his hand. Those archers reflexes let her grab a pillow and slap him with it before he could block.
   "He's still innocect! " she hissed low enough to go undetected. The light blush on her cheeks giving way to false rage.
    Rolaf laughed softly and pulled her face to him capturing her lips with his. They were interrupted yet again by the far too enthusiastic guard dog barking while the girl-woman's son slipped back into his room down below them. They could easily hear Alesan panicking to quiet him.
   "That dog." She grumbled moments before Rolaf pulled hed into his lap smiling too cheekily. Their tense conversation forgotten for another night.

{#34} i’m her boyfriend // newt au (part iv)
fandom: the maze runner
pairing: newt x reader
word count: 2,2k words
request: by @newtsslut
summary:  after everyone went to different colleges, the original friend group decides to meet up again and newt asks an important question
part i / part ii / part iii
masterlist
"I'm back, love!" Newt's voice rang through the small dorm as he closed the door and you could hear him shuffling out of his warm winter coat before he made his way to your room, steps almost inaudible on the smooth wooden surface of the floor.He knocked and waited for you to call him to come in before he opened the door to stick his head into your room. "I finished classes for today, love."
You turned on your chair, smiling widely at your boyfriend of almost 5 years. "I know. I heard you", you said, pulling out your earbuds you had in to listen to relaxing music while preparing for your next exam.
Newt opened the door fully and stepped in, walking over to your desk and bending down to kiss you.
You responded by deepening the kiss and pulling him closer to you, feeling sparks in your whole body. Even after 5 years of being in a relationship with him, your feelings never decreased, but actually grew stronger. and he never failed to make your knees go weak.
When you broke the kiss to breathe again, you gave him another quick peck on his chapped yet soft lips and turned around, picking up your pen again. Newt wrapped his arms around your chest from behind and laid his chin down on your right shoulder, careful to not add to much pressure and weight on it to not hurt you. "What are you doing?"
You sighed, adding another sentence to your paper and scribbling down some notes next to it.
"I got an important test tomorrow and i'm low-key freaking out. I studied so much yet I still feel like I've done nothing."
Newt planted light kisses on your cheek and neck. "You're gonna ace this test, I know it. Your too intelligent not to ace it", he mumbled in between kisses, causing a light blush to tint your cheeks red, partly because of his compliment and partly because of the way his lips felt against the soft skin of your neck.
"Thank you, Newt. But I gotta finish this, and you're not exactly helping me to concentrate. How about you order some pizza and we're watching some movies when i'm finished?"
"Sounds great, love," he answered and pulled away, but not without cupping your cheek with his right hand to gently turn your face to his to give you another kiss.
You kissed him back, but soon lay your hand on his chest to push him firmly away from you. "Newt. What did I just say?"
He groaned but reluctantly stood up and walked to the door. Before he left the room, he turned around again. "Same as always?"
You nodded and blew him a kiss, smiling. "I love you, Newt." He stuck his tongue out to you and left the room. Seconds after he closed the door you heard him yell from the kitchen: "Love you too, Y/N"
You shook your head at your dork of a boyfriend before you put the earbuds back in and concentrated on the textbook in front of you again.
You and Newt spent the rest of the evening cuddled up on the comfy couch in your dorm, eating pizza and watching movies, occasionally interrupted by quick make-out sessions.
After the credits of the last movie rolled over the screen, Newt stood up and stretched, his shirt riding up and exposing a bit of the skin of his muscular stomach, not failing to make you stare.
"Like what you see, love?", he asked with a smirk while ruffling through his hair. You smirked back and looked down at yourself. "Yes, I do actually. Don't you think my outfit looks great today?"
He laughed and extended his hands to help you up. "You know, I miss the movie nights with the others", you told him as you walked towards the bedroom.
He immediately knew who you were talking about. "I know me too. How about we meet up again sometimes? Just like in old times."
You stared at your appearance in the mirror, smoothening out the slight crinkles at the hem of your dress, feeling a hint of nervousness. It had been months since you'd last seen Teresa, and you were scared you somehow wouldn't be that good of friends anymore.
After you graduated high school, all of you went to different colleges, and even if you still texted almost daily with everyone, you'd only meet up a couple of times. You missed them dearly, as well as your high school days where you all had seen each other every day.
Now you had managed to arrange a meeting with Teresa, and you were really looking forward to it, even if you were slightly disappointed that no one else seemed to be interested in meeting up with you.
You had called everyone, Minho, Thomas (who now were a couple), Brenda and Teresa, but only the latter had agreed and the rest had declined with more or less good excuses.
You sighed, left the bathroom with a last look in the mirror and walked over to Newt who sat at the small table in the kitchen and typed away at his mobile. He looked up and smiled as he saw you and stood up, stuffing his mobile in the pocket of his sweater.
"You look pretty, love", he said and planted a kiss on your left cheek before he played his hand on the small of your back and pushed you gently forward. "Let's go."
Newt opened the car door for you after he pulled up on the opposite street side of the restaurant you two would meet Teresa.
You intertwined your hands and crossed the street, entering the restaurant.
As soon as you entered, your gaze fell across the room and you realized that not only Teresa was present, but also Thomas, Minho, and Brenda.
You swirled around to Newt, who smirked proudly at your reaction. As you wrapped your arms around him in happiness, he whispered: "Surprise, love." You beamed brightly while you dragged him immediately over to the table your friends sat at.
They stood up and you hugged everyone tightly, not able to keep the smile from your face.
"Why are you here? I thought you ‘had things to do’?", you asked as you hugged Thomas.
He chuckled. "Well, Newt told me to decline. He wanted to surprise you."
"That definitely worked, even if your excuse was really lame", you laughed, before you all sat down again.
Later that evening, after all of you had finished their dinner, you sat around the table, a glass red wine in front of everyone.
"Hey Teresa, is that a ring on your finger?", you asked curiously as you noticed the slim golden ring on her right ring finger as she brought up her wine glass to her lips.
Teresa blushed lightly and nodded, a happy smile tugging on her lips. "Yes." You let out a suppressed squeal of happiness for your best friend. "And who's the lucky one?", you smirked, even if you already knew the answer.
Brenda, who sat next to Teresa, raised her hand to show the shiny gold ring on her finger, smiling widely.
"How long are you two together now?" asked Minho with a glance on your intertwined hands on the table. "Should be a little more than five years, right?" You shook your head. "Five years tomorrow, actually."
Thomas frowned. "What? You sure? I'd have thought 5 years and two or three months. Since you never told us how long you were together before we knew."
You gasped in disbelief, looking over at Newt. "Oh. We never told them, did we?
Newt shrugged. "They never asked."
"What did you never tell us?", asked Minho, exchanging glances with Thomas.
"Well, we weren't together before you found out.  Actually, I found out the same way as you", you explained, then looked over to Newt so that he would continue.
"Well, I've liked her for a long time, but I never acted on it because I was too scared of rejection. And when I heard you talking about how Y/N never had a boyfriend before, and I realized how uncomfortable she was I walked in and kissed her. To be honest, I was really scared that she would just hit me afterward, and I never expected her to kiss back. But she did, and since then we're a couple."
It was silent, everyone stared at you before Teresa began laughing. "I can't believe it", she choked out between fits of laughter.
"Now what you told me about tonight makes so much more sense!", Minho smirked and nudged Newt with his elbow, who suddenly looked pretty nervous. "That means you two are together for five years in exactly-" he pulled out his mobile"- exactly 25 minutes."
As he spoke, he gave Newt a meaningful glance. You squinted your eyes at Minho. What was he up to?
Newt had gotten significantly paler in the last minutes, and you threw him a few concerned sideglances, which he didn’t notice since he was fidgeting with his almost empty glass.
You leaned closer to him, squeezing his hand. "You ok? You look pale."
He didn't react, but as you asked again, he snapped out of his trance.  "W-what? No, i'm ok. Just...need a bit fresh air." With that he hastily got up, almost sweeping his glass off the table at the action and rushed out.
"What? Wait! Do you want me to-"
You turned back to the others. "What was that? What's up with him? I'll go after him."
You stood up, but Minho immediately stopped you. "No, I'll go. Trust me, he doesn't need you right now." With that Minho was gone too.
"What?" Now you were really confused. Why was everyone acting so strange? Did you do something? Was Newt angry at you?
Brenda played her hand on top of yours from across the table and squeezed it gently. "Calm down, everything's ok. Just wait."
You glanced anxiously over to the entrance, where Newt and Minho had vanished minutes ago.
Twenty minutes later, Newt and Minho came back. Minho gave Newt a pat on the back and said something you couldn’t understand before he came back to the table and sat down opposite to Thomas.
Newt followed slower, and he didn’t sit down, but took your hands and pulled you up from your chair.
He took a deep breath and cleared his throat. "Y/N, in -" he took a look at his watch"- in three minutes we are officially together for five whole years. And I don’t know about you, but I not only loved you for this five years - the best years of my life, may I add - but since the very moment I met you for the first time ever. The decision to just go for it and kiss you back then was the best decision I ever made in my whole life and I never regretted it for a second." He chuckled."Well maybe I was a bit scared as you dragged me out of the room, but still. You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, and I hope you know that. Y/N, I love you. Always have, always will." With this, he pulled you into a passionate kiss, pressing you close to him.
His speech had brought tears to your eyes, and you could barely keep your voice from cracking as you broke away and looked him in the eyes, almost getting lost in them.
"Newt...i'd have never in my life thought that I would end up with someone so perfect for me like you, and I couldn’t be happier. I love you too", you whispered, tears glistening in your eyes.
"So -" he cleared his throat nervously "- so you would say yes?"
You frowned, "Say yes to what?"
Newt slowly lets go of your hands and sank on one knee, holding up and opening a small blue velvet box with a beautiful ring in it.
"Y/N Y/L/N, will you marry me?"
It took you a few seconds to actually comprehend the question he just asked, but after you did, you covered your mouth with your hands in shock and couldn't stop the tears from running down your cheeks, probably ruining your makeup.
"Oh god, yes Newt, yes, of course, i will marry you!", you choked out between sobs, furiously trying to wipe away the tears from your cheeks.
Newt's whole expression lit up with the brightest smile you've ever seen and he took your left hand to slip the gorgeous ring up your ring finger before he stood up.
He pulled you into another kiss, making your knees weak and your head spinning as you forgot everything around you and just concentrated on the heavenly and blissful feeling of Newt’s lips against yours and the utter happiness spreading in your whole body.
thanks for reading:)                   want to request something?

hc where you (reader) have been in some kind of accident and is left unable to walk. severus stays at your side, and even though you have your arguments, he helps you get better and the first time you take a step, something almost magical happens.
“Please. Come and get me.”  Those words, whispered over the phone at three in the morning, were enough to wake me from a dead sleep.  I grabbed my keys and started the car, my mind whirring with wakefulness. He had only called once before, and I knew that he would not call unless it was absolutely necessary.
It happened only minutes later. I was nearly there, too.  Later, I would learn that the driver of the lorry that struck my vehicle had fallen asleep at the wheel.  He escaped without a scratch.
I was not so lucky.
There was light and unbearable pain and then darkness.
Fragmented moments blinked through my consciousness- bright light in my eyes, a blurry face, a deep, familiar voice that my mind was too far away to place, the pressure of being moved, and pain again.  Darkness.  Light. Pain. Darkness. It became a familiar, irritating cycle.  But, I suppose, in hindsight, it was better than the alternative.
When my eyes finally adjusted to the light in the small hospital room, the first thing I noticed was the lack of an IV in either arm.  This was a godsend, as I know that I have deep veins that roll away when bothered by pesky phlebotomists.
There were, however, glowing runes around my arms and legs, keeping them perfectly straight in the bed, and, as I tried to move my neck, I found that there was a thick chain of runes glowing in the air around most of my torso and (I was pretty sure, being unable to move much) my neck as well.
My eyes, however, could move with ease, and they scanned the room tracking all of the lumps in the shadows.
One lump was taller and more human-shaped than the rest, and I suppose the thing that truly tipped me off was the soft snoring coming from its general direction.
I cleared my throat, but it sounded more like a death rattle than something an actual living human might make.  That was when I realized how horribly dry my throat felt.
The lump stirred, stretched, and became impossibly tall, looming over where I lay, completely helpless, in the hospital bed.  It stood and shuffled into the light until I was looking into the day-old stubble and generally scruffy face of Severus Snape, my coworker and close friend.
“I’m sorry I called you,” he croaked out, his voice not much better-sounding than mine. “If I could take it back, I’d just have lain in the gutter until the morning.”
Severus rarely ever drinks, but there is one night in the middle of July that he can’t help himself.  He drinks himself under the table.  He won’t tell me exactly why, but he’s hinted that it is the day he regrets most in his miserable life.  Of course, that means that he’ll splinch himself if he tries to Apparate, and he’s never been fond of automobiles enough to get a license, though he used to drive his dad’s old hunk of junk back in the old days. I too, came from Spinner’s End, but I was a few years behind him. It was a shock to my completely muggle parents, both of whom died not long into Voldemort’s first war after they were targeted. I was lucky that I was working on a Dark Creatures study in the Forbidden Forest with the DA professor  and a few other chosen students at the time, or I’d have been killed too.  Headmaster Dumbledore himself helped place myself and a few other muggleborns with magical families, where we were mostly treated like one of their own.  But I still inherited my parent’s house, and returned to it after graduation, which was right around when the war finally ended.
Severus and I became friends after that.  There was something magical about being the only two magical folks on that tiny, dilapidated street.  The Ministry gave me a stipend for my research on magical creatures, so I was able to improve my housing until there was at least an indoor toilet and I built a little fence around the expanded property once the houses on either side of mine were knocked over and rebuilt.  I helped him redo his stairs with my charmwork (which I’ve always been good at). He helped me with a few potions that I need to keep myself in good working order after my thyroid quit on me due to extended exposure to Red Cap Gnomes.
It’s always the same tavern, too.  Over in this place called Godric’s Hollow.  It’s not horribly far away, but it’s far enough to require driving on a few narrow, poorly lit streets.  I suppose I could have Apparated, but I sometimes still splinch people when I do Side-Along, and Severus doesn’t deserve to wake up with a hangover and a missing extremity in the morning.
“Well, at least I’m not missing any extremities,” I croaked back, my voice like an autumn wind.
He chuckled, despite himself.  One of the things we bonded on was our shared dark sense of humor. “We can’t have you falling apart on us,” he said, finally, “then where would the two of us be?”
Laughing hurt a bit, but I still managed it.
Severus looked worried, then, and spooned something out of a small bottle that sat on the table.
“Come on, then,” he said, placing it in front of my mouth. “It tastes evil, but it’ll help with the pain.”
“Ugh,” I gurgled, the smell already making me nauseous, but I did as he said.
He was right on both counts.
As the days went on, and my energy increased, Severus explained the healing runes and potions that he himself had brewed.
“It’s the least I can do,” he said, shrugging as his hair fell over his eyes. “I am, after all, responsible for this.”
I scoffed at him, of course. He didn’t make the man fall asleep at the wheel. But he still seemed to be deeply remorseful about it all.
Time and rest did its work, and several weeks later, I was out of the runic traction.  My body ached, but Severus was good as his word and gave me muscle strengthening potions to help with my rehabilitation. My legs, however, were still useless, even after the treatment.  The mediwitches wanted to give up on it- they said it’s something with my brain, so even though my legs were healing fine, they were not working. Severus disagreed.  Very loudly.  In fact, one might have described his reaction as “murderous screaming.”  I didn’t mind.  He was able to put a voice to the fury in my own head at the thought of never being able to walk again due to a situation that I had no control over.
Of course, we had our disagreements, too.  Severus got mad at me for wheeling myself around St. Mungos, making “a nuisance” of myself, as he said. But I could see the concern in his eyes.  He was back in school, teaching every day, so he couldn’t sleep on that little chair next to my bed anymore (though we had an argument about that as well- I kept telling him to leave, to get a good night’s sleep, and he growled back at me that he was getting as good a sleep there as anywhere).  He practically accused me of going to the roof to jump off of it, but I just needed the fresh air on my face…to look up at the cloudy sky and watch the dark shadows of birds high up in the thermals as they coast without a care in the world. I daydreamed about flying with them on my broom, which is hiding away in a closet at home.  Sometimes, I need to be reminded that even crippled witches have options that the muggles do not.
He must know what it feels like to be in a powerless situation…the dark places the mind can go…
But I am not there. Not yet.
Not…yet.
He doesn’t tell me that he’s been working on an experimental neural revitalizing potion until he sets it down on my breakfast tray. It swirled impressively around in the clear bottle like silvery hope.
“I have only tried it…on…non human subjects,” he said, “and…my own leg.”
He showed me his right leg, the one that he always limps on just a bit.  He’d told me after the stairs project that the Dark Lord had tortured him with the Cruciatus Curse after he’d refused to bring the Potter family to him directly.
“I told him….I told him that they’d been hidden because Dumbledore already knew the prophecy, which he already knew as well of course….but…I could tell he wanted an excuse.  It took me a month to walk without a cane.” He’d looked so sad in that moment, that I’d placed an arm around him and he collapsed into my shoulder, his body shaking with silent sobs.  I did not move, did not judge.  I was just there, which was what he needed.
But now, now it was me who covered my own mouth and shook with the fierceness of the hope that I may one day walk as smoothly as he was now striding across the floor.
“It tastes evil,” Severus warned me, but I was already ready for that.
I pinched my nose. “Even things that seem evil are often more than they appear,” I said, my voice a bit funny because of the nose pinching.
He handed the bottle to me and I raised it to him. “To walking, which is what legs are for!”
He grabbed a paper cup from the side and raised it back. “Among other things,” he replied, raising an eyebrow and blushing a bit as he looked at me.
This was, of course, when I realized that my hospital robe had gotten rather hitched up while I was maneuvering from the chair to my bed, and…well…I was basically showing him everything up to my hips.
I downed the entire bottle’s worth of potion with a grimace, my face growing hot with mortification, and placed the bottle on the tray before pulling down at the hem of my robes.
“Ah, there,” I said, trying to play it off as though this had been my intention all along. “So..then…how’s the quidditch this year?”
He was already sitting in that tiny chair on the side of my bed, his eyes on my face, but I could see a small vein twitching in his neck- the one that always gave away that he was trying to control his instinct to look elsewhere.
“That’s fine,” I replied, smirking at him and feeling slightly less embarrassed when he began to blush a bit as well, “I know you only love me for my legs.”
He mumbled something back, but all I could catch was, “That’s not all I…” before it became incomprehensible.
Of course, before the conversation could get even more awkward, my feet began to twitch.  I could feel the pinpricks in my toes as though they’d been asleep under an elephant’s bum for ages.  These weren’t the average pins and needles, though. It felt like someone had sized them up to knitting needles and charmed them to square dance on my body.
Immediately, upon hearing my grunt of discomfort, Severus was striding over to the medicine cabinet and pulled out some pain relief potions.
“No…it’s…ow….ok,” I said.
“Don’t be stubborn,” he replied, glaring at me.
“No, ow…really…I want to feel it…it means it’s working,” I replied.
Of course, ten minutes later, I’d had quite enough of the pain, thank you very much, and had to endure Severus and his smug looks for the rest of the evening.
He stayed at my side until I fell asleep, my legs still twitching and jumping randomly as the nerves rewrote themselves deep inside of my body, and I could almost have sworn that I felt the pressure of his hand in mine before the soft shush of his boots and the click of the door signaled his departure.
“I think I’m ready,” I said, a week later.
“You keep saying that,” he replied dubiously, “but I don’t want you to get ahead of yourself. It’s not magic.”
“Yes it is, silly!” I replied, giving him a smug look. “Besides, I’ve been practicing.  Sure, I’ve remained mostly horizontal and practicing consists of flutter kicking in bed, but it’s better than before!”
“But of course,” Severus replied, bowing in a mockery of a butler’s standard manner of deferring to an idiot monarch. “Why don’t we see how well Madam has fared in her studies?”
“Hmph,” I replied, my eyes narrowing. “Challenge accepted.”
He took my hand and pulled me up from the chair.  The first step I took was wobbly, but that was to be expected.
“I know that look,” he purred, “I am not dancing with you when you get your ground legs again.”
Dancing was the only thing I really missed from my school days.  Dance halls just aren’t much of a thing anymore in the Muggle world, so I’d been bugging him forever to let me waltz with him a bit.
“Hmph,” I replied, straining on the weight of my second leg and taking advantage of his arm to steady myself. “I’ll get you dancing if it’s the last thing I do.”
“Hold on,” he replied, concern on his face. “You need to rest. If you’re not careful, you’re going to have to eat your words.”
“You underestimate the tenacity of a Slytherin,” I replied, pushing back. My left foot moved forward as I allowed the weight of my body to rest on the right.  I wobbled a bit, but it held.
“I see,” Severus replied, raising an eyebrow, “Well perhaps you were simply Sorted wrong.  You were obviously meant to be a Hufflepuff, as they are tenacious when it comes to doing inadvisable things to completion.”
“You take that back right now!” I yelled, “I have plenty of Hufflepuff friends who- and besides, I-”
My breath hitched with wonder.  The room was small and absolutely the wrong place for dancing, and yet, when he turned me around, my legs did not buckle underneath me.
We are dancing. Together.
“I must be dreaming,” I whispered, letting him lead me over linoleum tiles in my bare feet.
“Unfortunately not,” he replied, “Otherwise, you are terrible at conjuring up a suitable fantasy for a male partner.”
“I think my current fantasy is just fine,” I replied before I could fully think of the implications of my words.  “I…I mean…that is, if it doesn’t mean you’re going to drop me on the floor and run off.”
He stared back, more swaying than dancing and for a moment, I wondered if his legs were about to collapse. But, no, instead he composed himself for a moment, his eyes going from conflicted to resolute, and he moistened his thin lips before finally saying the words I’d been longing to hear for months.
“I…I hadn’t dared...hoped that you would feel…similarly…”
“Of course I do, you big dolt!” I said brightly, before I lost my nerve. “After all, you do have to admit that we both share a boon in the nice legs department.”
He couldn't help himself- he snickered loudly and spun me until he was suddenly sitting on that tiny chair and I was pulled down into his lap, his arms wrapping around me to steady me from falling.
“Among other things,” he said, his voice growing husky before he kissed me senseless.

Protector pt. 4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Characters: Derek x Reader, Isaac, Chris, Gerard
Warnings: Mention of suicide, Drug use (marijuana)
A/N: This started as a filler and it kinda blossomed. Also, for some reason I forgot about season 5 lol. So let’s just pretend that nothing changed with Duke and Gerard. Please be advised there’s a huge amount of drug use but remember, I age up to about 21/22. Thank you all for even glimpsing at my story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You rolled and stretched across the unfamiliar bed, reaching for the familiar form you usually felt. You kept reaching and felt nothing, then you remembered. You were mad at him.
“Morning Sunshine.” An unfamiliar voice echoed through the room, you opened your eyes to see a lanky boy with curly blond hair leaning over you with a shit eating grin on his face.
“What the fu–” you shot up and hit him with a pillow before scrambling to the headboard of the motel bed.
The boy had the audacity to laugh as he caught it with ease. After a second look at the boy you noticed that it was Isaac. Isaac who had eight deep claw marks and bullet wound and was writhing in pain less than 24 hours ago. Unless you were dreaming. A look around the hotel room suggested otherwise, with the bloodied sheets and the makeshift IV still on the nightstand being the most obvious evidence. How was he up and walking?
“Isaac!” The familiar boom of Derek’s voice sounded. “This is why you were a shitty beta” he said, glaring at the boy after walking to the room from outside. Beta? Derek definitely wasn’t a frat bro. What could he have meant?
“You said she needed to wake up.” Isaac defended himself.
“I said I would wake her up” Derek said, making his way over to you. “Stay away from her, dumbass”
You snorted to hold in your laughter. Even though you were mad at him, it was nice to see Derek letting loose around someone other than you. But why should he stay away from you. The sound made Derek’s head turn in your direction, you looked away.
“Anyway, it’s your turn to shower, dollface” Isaac said with a daring wink. Derek growled at the action and you walked to the restroom.
“Oh I-” you stopped and turned around.
“Got it.” Derek was already there with a towel and your clothes folded. You took it with a small smile. He didn’t give one back, instead his eyes bore into yours.
You looked into his eyes and realised that you weren’t truly mad at him. You were hurt, afraid, and all around tired of being kept in the dark. You brushed your fingers against his lightly and turned back, entering the restroom letting Derek close the door behind you. You turned on the shower and leaned against the door. You faintly heard Derek speaking and pressed your ear to the door to hear what they were saying.
“-Am I supposed to explain that?” Derek’s angry voice shot through the room.
“She seriously doesn’t know?” You heard what you thought to be Isaac say in an amused tone.
“No. And I’d like to keep it that way for a little while longer. You’re supposed to be injured” Derek said with a grunt.
“Calm down, I am…See.” he must have shown his wounds.
“Not nearly as bad as you should be.” Derek said in frustration. “Clean this up.” Was the last you heard before you heard the door slam. “And I don’t think I need to tell you what I’ll do to you if you so much as talk to her” Derek said before the door slammed again. —– The car ride was awkward to say the least. You sat next to Derek with a dumbfounded look on your face halfway through Denver. Chris was driving once again, trying to ignore the two younger men’s animosity. Well, Derek’s outright glare at Isaac as he went along as if he hadn’t gotten a bullet lodged out of him recently. What a weirdo.
“That woman’s going to think you murdered me” you were talking to Chris. He laughed at your statement because it was true. You’d left the bloodied sheets folded into a corner in the room.
“It’s a good thing I used a fake name.” He let out one more laugh.
“And burnt off your fingertips” Isaac said nonchalantly. What?!
“Enough! Isaac.” The bellow didn’t come from Derek, who looked ready to lunge at the boy. But, it came from Chris. “He is your sire. Respect his wishes” Chris said to the boy, his voice lowered to it’s normal octave. Isaac grunted and looked out the window.
“Are we’re just gonna pretend that I didn’t hear that?” You asked incredulously.
“If we can help it” Chris muttered.
“We can’t”
“Some of our business isn’t exactly legal” Derek spoke up next to you. You rose an eyebrow.
“What the hell?” You asked, none of the men spoke up “Are you part of the mafia?” They all laughed as if it was the funniest joke they’d heard in years.
“Yup. I’m a Gambino” Derek’s eyes danced with amusement.
“Haha.” You said dryly.
Isaac was still laughing and Chris had composed himself. You were getting tired if half truths and skirting around the issue. Derek could tell because throughout the entire morning he’d failed to kiss you on the lips, only the cheek and head. He was getting frustrated and you could tell. He was one for tiny displays of PDA. Like shoulder kisses, quick lip bites and constant touching when he was near, even now, as you were mad at him he kept his leg tightly pressed against yours in the backseat of the ‘inconspicuous’ black SUV.
So yeah, you could say Derek was tense again. The mood had shifted exponentially and the two in the front could tell because Chris decided to blast the college rock station and Isaac just shifted to looking out the window. Who was Derek Hale, who were any of these people? You’d spent almost three years with him and you accepted that he was keeping things from you. Maybe it was because in every television show and book you read when one of the parties in a relationship was hiding something it was something over the top amazing. Like being a spy - you had this silly thought that he was going off and beating up French and Swiss bad guys trying to infiltrate the countries security. At one point your thought of Derek being a mafioso came to life when you were out to dinner one night at an Italian place and a man began screaming at him in Italian and yelled back, fluently. That night ended in Derek knocking the guy out and some amazing sex before you both ate your to go cannolis.
You smiled at the fond memory and gripped Derek’s thigh lightly. The touch brought Derek’s eyes to your hand, as he was staring at you previously. He rested his hand atop yours and held tight. Hell, he may not be something as outrageous as a spy or a mafioso but, he was yours. And whatever trouble he was in would become yours. He wasn’t off the hook though. If you were gonna fight this… Duecalion fellow you were going to need to know why. Which brought back all your questions, you were about to ask about Duecalion when Isaac spoke up.
“Hey, we’re in Colorado, right?” Isaac turned to face the backseat and both you and Derek nodded.
“Why?” Chris asked beside him.
“Can we get high?” Isaac questioned. It wasn’t a 'can we pull over to smoke’ kind of question, it was a 'are we able to’ kind of question. You rose an eyebrow and tilted your head. You were confused at the question but also intrigued. Was it against the rules in their 'World?’ if so, they’re in for a rude awakening.
“Derek and I get high all the time” you told them seriously. This caused Chris to choke on air and and Isaac to form a lopsided grin.
“Oh really?” He directed his question to Derek.
“Well, not all the time but, in the past we have.” You told them both. Derek just grunted out a yeah.
“And it worke-” Isaac caught himself “I mean you got high?!” Isaac asked well, accused.
“Yes, Isaac. Now shut up.” Derek said.
“Let’s get high!” Isaac bounced in his seat he was not a good listener. You mused.
“It is legal here…” The older men looked at you, shocked. “Watch the road!” You yelled at Chris.
“I can drive with my hands tied behind my back and blindfolded” he said seriously, but turned to face the road either way. At this point, you believed him.
You didn’t go against the idea. You wanted Derek to stop killing Isaac with his eyes repeatedly. If looks could kill, right? Plus, you needed to get your mind off of this without a killer hangover, like the one the shower washed away earlier. Chris pulled into a dispensary and turned to face you, you started pulling out cash to hand to him.
“Yeah right.” Isaac said when you tried to hand him the money. Chris just looked at Derek amused.
“Hey, she likes to pay her way. I’d take it if I were you. She bites” Derek said with a shake of his head. Chris took it after a beat.
“What do you want?” He asked like he was going grocery shopping.
“Blue dream, Grandaddy OG Kush and…” You bit your lip “cheese” you finished. The boys just looked at you as Derek looked kind of…Proud? “If they don’t have that just tell them to make a salad bowl.” You nodded firmly.
“Maybe you should come in with me?” Chris said, a little confused.
“You’re a big boy, Chris. I have faith in you.” You smiled and shooed him. Derek looked at Isaac pointedly.
“I’ll go!” He jumped at the chance to have his first marijuana dispensary experience.
Once the younger and older men were gone Derek spoke up.
“I’m sorry. You deserve to know everything. I’m literally dragging you back and forth across the country and you deserve to be in a penthouse with your feet kicked up and a martini in your hand. Or a joint, whatever. You shouldn’t be out here, it’s too dangerous and I’m making you do this for me. Argent told me that you were ready to stab someone last night and I can’t let you do that. I can’t let you get hurt, but I’m afraid you’ll leave if you find out! And if you leave me then I literally have nothing and I can’t take that, I don’t know who I am without you-” Derek’s words were running together at the end of his rant so you stopped him with your lips pressing against his.
“Shut up” you told him as you leant back. “What did I tell you?” You asked him. “There’s gonna have to be a lot more than this to get you away from me. Of course I’d stab someone for you, I eat glass if it meant you’d be okay.” He huffed with a smile at the revelation. “I deal with your mood swings. This is nothing” he rolled his eyes at that. “Seriously though, I want to know. You can’t keep me in the dark for much longer. I can tell I’m about to find out. And I’d rather it be from you” you said honestly. That’s why you haven’t done the obvious thing and outright asked Isaac. “Now go back to being mean, tough Derek before they come back” you said as you placed your hands on both sides of his face and pushed his hair back.
“You’re perfect.” He whispered, more to himself even though he was watching you.
Isaac and Chris came back looking triumphant. They dropped the bags in your lap and you took a look inside, it had all been labeled accordingly. They had blunt wraps, the weed and had even gotten some munchies and poweraid. They were really trying to experience the stoner paradise with this, huh? You thought.
“You know the markup on this food is outrageous,right?” You looked at the two.
“We didn’t want to waste any time getting snacks.” Chris said giddily. You covered your mouth to hold your laughter. “It’s been a long time, okay?” He said with an eye roll which made Derek and Isaac begin to laugh. “I hate you guys” he said with an unmanly pout and hopped in the passenger seat.
Apparently it was time to rotate because they knew exactly what to do, Derek took the Drivers seat but not before placing the armrest down and kissing you heatedly. Isaac groaned and took the seat next to you, separated by the divider. You giggled from your seat and opened the bags up.
Where are we going?“ You asked as you took the weed out and began grinding it up, Isaac watched curiously, Derek watched Isaac and Chris was just enjoying his rock.
"To my bunker, gotta pick some stuff up and, if we’re gonna do this,we have to be safe.” The final man spoke.You rolled your eyes, yeah this is what’s gonna affect our safety.
You opened the package of blunts, broke one open and began dumped the tobacco in the empty bag. Isaac was still watching you and Derek looked up occasionally to watch from the rearview mirror, you winked at him when you caught his eye. You took the ground up weed and put it in the now empty blunt wraps and began rolling, once it was done you made sure to catch Derek’s eyes in the mirror and lick the blunt painfully slow, Isaac almost gasped before ruining your moment by saying.
“Derek… Your girlfriend is so hot” he gave you a small smile and Derek turned around and punched his arm, so quickly you almost missed it. Isaac definitely felt it because he growled and whined. “Fuck!” He held the arm where Derek hit, his eyes looked yellow for a fleeting moment. Must of been his hair in his eyes.
“I know, I see her everyday. She's beautiful” He said, a satisfied smile on his lips. You could feel yourself blushing.
“Whatever.” He pouted reminding you of a golden retriever, “Do it again!” He told you, Derek cleared his throat. “What? Do you know how to do it?” He asked holding up the blunt to the two older men in the front. They conceded and you repeated the process three more times. —- By the time you were finished with rolling you were in front of what Chris called a bunker. I guess that’s what it was, truthfully it was three storage containers linked together in an old junk yard. With two bedrooms, a kitchenette a living room and a bathroom. As you entered you thought back to your questions, but Isaac was so excited to smoke that you gave him his blunt just to calm him down. You distributed the other two and Isaac stayed looking confused.
“If you’re anything like Derek, your tolerance is insanely high” you told him. On the occasion that you did smoke, Derek usually smoked his entire blunt and some of yours.
“I..Have no idea how to do this.” Isaac spoke up, Derek snorted, having already lit his, Chris had gone to collecting the items he needed. Which probably meant guns ammo and whatever else he kept in his weird bag.
You smiled and took it from him, lighting it and inhaling deeply before blowing out an O-ring. Isaac looked like a guppy and took his blunt gingerly. He followed your instructions and got the hang of it pretty quickly, coughing after each hit. You reassured him that it’d get better soon.
“You started without me?” Chris asked when he came back, two bags doing over his shoulders.
“Gotta move quicker than that, old man.” Derek said with a chuckle. He just gave Derek a disapproving look before lighting his. You finally had the chance to light yours and plopped down on the uncomfortable couch provided in the bunker.
About thirty minutes later you were laying on the couch on your back, giggling with the guys. Derek sat next next to you with your head in his lap, Isaac was vegging out on the floor and when Chris said he bought munchies for everyone… He really meant himself because you all had one bag of chips between you, Derek and Isaac whilst Chris had hot Cheetos, sour patch kids, Skittles and Reese’s all to himself. He literally smacked your hand as you reached for the Sour Patch Kids, Derek growled and snatched the sour candy from him, dumping the candy in your mouth with a mischievous gleam in his eye. Your eyes widened as he kept going after your mouth was full. You shot up and chewed the candy in your mouth, throwing the few that fell on your lap at him.
“Derek!” You squealed with a laugh scrunched up your face.
“You wanted it.” He muttered, a smile playing at the edge of his lips. He plopped the few that you threw at him in his mouth.
“This is why I kept it to myself.” Chris spoke up, shoveling hand full of Skittles in his mouth.
“No, you’re being just greedy, Argent” Derek said with a side eyed glace towards Chris. Derek knocked the sour patch kids against Isaac’s head, offering the boy the candy. Isaac took it slowly.
“I don’t get to eat a lot of junk food!” Chris said with squinted eyes. “We can’t all have inhuman metabolism” he grunted quietly, sparking up again. Derek snorted out laughter.
The comment got your mind reeling, Derek could tell because he groaned and pulled you on his lap.
“Stop thinking so much, we’re supposed to be relaxing” he whispered after dipping his lips to your ear.
“I can’t! Why does Chris have a bunker? Why do you all talk in such cryptic sentences? Why are we not freaking out right now?” You asked lowly at first, so only Derek could hear but the questions quickly because everyone for the room.
“Because I’m a werewolf.” Derek said seriously. That apparently woke Isaac up because his head whipped around to you both. Chris dropped his bag and  did the same. You smiled and laughed at the ridiculous jpke, pushing Derek’s chest.
“You would have convinced me if they existed” you said once you stopped laughing. It was true, it was very convincing. “I love you” you said, the amusement still in your demeanor.
He gave you a small smile and kissed your shoulder “I love you back.” His arms snaked his way around your waist and he leaned his head on your shoulder.
You’d spent almost an of trying to get Derek to show off his Dance moves and him fiercely declining in front of his friends. Seriously, he loved to dance when you were alone, so the fact that he got such a red face when you mentioned it made you pick on him even more. You smiled down at the sleeping Derek. He needed to, knowing him he didn’t sleep last night, well earlier today. So you let him suck up his little few hours of sleep. You were in the middle of running your hands through his short black hair when Isaac came back into the room from the bathroom.
“The old men just can’t handle it, huh?” He laughed and say in the recliner that Chris once sat in. He’d gone to the bedroom on the far end of the bunker. You snorted.
“Says the one who was counting invisible stars twenty minutes ago” the puppy dog - you found yourself calling him in your head - began blushing profusely. “Why do you and Derek butt heads so much?” You nodded towards the boy, changing the subject while you could get some answers.
“We don’t, really. That’s just Derek” he shrugged. It was strange, because you knew Derek was nothing but surly to most people but, his dynamic with Isaac and Chris were very opposite. With Chris it was like he respected everything he said and the way they spoke to each other was as if they were best friends. With Isaac it was like he was scolding his younger brother constantly.
“It’s just… He acts like you piss him off with everything you do” you said with a light laugh.
“Everything pisses Derek off.” He said with a laugh, you smiled at that. It was kind of true. “He saved my life. And I don’t mean the way they did last night.” You’d almost forgotten about that. You wanted to ask him how his wounds were but you decided against it, in fear of losing the story. “My father didn’t like me very much and Derek showed me what a real family could be. He introduced me to Scott and he kept me from ending up at the bottom of the ocean. He made me one of them and I’m thankful” He looked at Derek with an intense stare. “He may be a douche, but he protects those he cares about”
“I resent the whole douche thing”  Derek stated, his eyes still closed. You jumped and stopped your motion.
“Why do you do that?” You accused your boyfriend. He shrugged and grabbed your hand that rested in his hair and began moving it again. You snorted and gave in to his wishes after he let go. Big baby.
“Love you too, Isaac” Derek said to the boys insinuated revelation. You wanted to cry from happiness, even though the words were fleeting both you and Isaac were shocked. Derek never showed emotion towards anything but puppies and you. It was amazing to hear the words come out of his mouth.
“Gross dude, your girlfriend’s right there.” Isaac responded, holding back his grin. The boy hadn’t known how to respond and that was clear but, he was happy to hear the words, that much was obvious.
Derek sat up immediate and Isaac’s head snapped towards the door. Both of them called for Argent and he ran to the room, Gun pointed forward. You didn’t know what was happening, what alerted them to the danger? Was there some unseen alarm?
“Speaking of shitty father’s” Isaac muttered and stood, all three men were now surrounding you with their backs turned towards you.
“Umm..?” You looked around. Argent took the throwing knives from his pocket and handed them to Derek who in turn handed them to you. You took them gingerly and tried to match their stances.
Argent stood his gun still in hand and pointed towards the door. Derek stood to his left, directly in front of you, standing in an animalistic hunch. Isaac stood on the end in a stance similar to Derek, his body still looked human though.
Moments later the door opened and Katrina sauntered in with an older man a much older man. “Lotta sugar daddies” you muttered. Isaac snorted out a laugh and Derek shook with silent laughter. Chris completely ignored you, the older man was conditioned to tune everything out.
“What are you doing here Gerard?” Chris spoke loud and firm.
“Now, now Christoph is that any way to greet your father?” The man said as he got closer, you noticed that he had a black and white hankerchief in hand and he coughed into it. It dawned on you that the hankerchief wasn’t black and white, he was coughing up black fluid. Mountain ash. How was he walking around, didn’t this stuff kill people?
“You lost that right when you betrayed our code.” Argent told his father.
“And what are you doing?” Katrina spoke up
“We don’t kill those who haven’t killed innocents” Chris argued back.
“Lower your gun” Gerard told his son, his nose began leaking mountain ash and he wiped his nose. “We just want these two lone wolves” he finished.
“Leave and you survive.” Derek spoke up.
“Cute, and who’s gonna kill me?” Katrina began walking forward, “your little oblivious play thing?” You peered around Derek and glared at her.
“Bitch.” You muttered.
“What are you whispering over there? My hearing’s not as good as theirs” she nodded towards Derek and Isaac.
“Bitch” you enunciated every syllable.
“Fiesty little thing you got there, Derek” Gerard said in a skincrawling tone. As he said that a light fog began intruding the vents located on the floor. They were stalling.
“Derek.” You pointed at the vents and he pushed you back behind him.
He cracked his neck quickly and you could see his facial hair grow thicker and his ears took a sharper point. The most alarming thing was his roar. He had a literal room shaking, ear splitting roar. That was him the other night? You backed up, alarmed and he turned with a sympathetic look in his eyes that were now glowing blue. Did he have fangs? You chanced a look at the two other men and Isaac had a very similar appearance. Chris just stood strong now with two guns pointed. You wanted to pass out
Bound IV
Tumblr media
Featuring: Yongguk x Reader
A/N: so I took the feedback I got into account and threw this next chapter together for you all. I hope you like it! As always I’d love to hear your thoughts after reading!
Once again, you found yourself sitting on the couch across from Yongguk. Despite his plea to get back together, you were still apprehensive. You’d asked if the two of you could talk about things a bit more before jumping into anything.
“I don’t mean to sound rude, but, could you not find someone else? I mean, it’s just that it’s been three years Yongguk. You’re not a bad looking guy, and you’re talented, successful, could you not find someone and move on?”
He chuckled as he looked at you, his eyes wavering a bit, but he never looked away.
“That’s just it. I’m a successful, well off musician. So naturally, I could find someone, I should easily have found someone. A few someones actually.” Your heart sunk a bit at his words, knowing he wasn’t intentionally bragging, and you had asked, but just thinking of him seeing several people while you hadn’t been able to find one, it hurt you.
“But, they weren’t with me for the right reasons. See they loved how successful I was, and my fame and money. They didn’t know the real me, they only knew me as Yongguk from B.A.P, the powerful rapper on stage. I couldn’t be happy with any of them, because, they didn’t love me like you did. I know you would have wanted me to move on, so I tried, for you. But y/n, I mean this when I say, I don’t think I will ever find someone like you.”
A slight smile crept back on your face as your cheeks turned a faint red. Yongguk smiling as he then took his turn to ask you a question.
“Why are you so afraid to get back together? I understand that it’s been three years, and Jae is now in the picture, but, I’m still the same Yongguk. I haven’t changed. I still love you. Why are you afraid to try?”
“I’m not afraid, it’s just, I don’t want Jae-”
“Come on y/n, enough with the Jae talk, I get it, you want what’s best for him, but you also need to think of yourself. You always put Jae firs, for once just think of yourself. How many people have you seen since you left?”
His tone had changed a bit, not angry, but more stern, catching you off guard.
“None. I couldn’t. Knowing I was pregnant, I felt it wouldn’t have been right. Because, because I still loved you. And, I never would have wanted another man to be in my life, letting Jae think that was his father. I wanted you to be there for him, to see all the milestones, to get to be apart of his first few years, but I screwed up. And I’m sorry. But, now that I’m back, and you’re here. You would think I would take you back with open arms, that I would bring Jae in here and introduce you as his father. But I can’t, things are different now, and I never thought they would be.”
“How? Y/n how are things different? Nothing has changed, things are still the same as you left them, for the most part. Please explain things to me so I can understand what you’re not telling me.”
You knew Yongguk was only this upset because of how he still felt about you. And you yes you still cared about him, but in these past few days, you’’d realized things wouldn’t just pick up where they left off like you thought. He was now on the edge of his seat, hands balled into fits as he stared at you awaiting your response.
“I’ve changed Yongguk. Okay? I’ve changed, I’m not the same girl I was three years ago. I’m a mom now, my lifestyle, everything I do, every decision I make, I have to think of how it will affect not only me but Jae. I’ve had to do a lot of growing up, I’ve had to do a lot on my own and it’s changed me. I’m sure you’re not the same Yongguk you were three years ago, you might think so, but so much has happened for you. And I couldn’t have expected you to put your life on hold, to just wait around hoping for me to come back. Your life has been hectic too, for other reasons, but no less hectic similar to mine.”
You hadn’t noticed how loud your voice had gotten until you heard your own voice echo throughout the room. The two of you sitting speechless for a few moments until you broke the silence.
“I’m afraid to get back together with you, because I’m afraid that I’m not the girl you fell in love with three years ago. I know you want to make this work, for us, and for Jae. But, you have to know, it isn’t easy being a parent, sure it can be fun sometimes, but it’s not at all easy. And Jae, when he finds out you’re his dad, he’s never going to forget. And you will become such an important person to him. But if things were to not work out, between us, and Jae was without you again, it would crush him. And me.”
Your anger how now turned into sadness, as you felt a tear or two falling, quickly wiping your eyes before Yongguk could. Without another word, Yongguk had moved to sit next to you, taking your hands in his as he sighed, regret on his face.
“If I get you back, and finally get to call Jae my son, officially, I promise, I will do my best to make sure I don’t ever hurt you two. I would hate myself if I did something to make you and Jae hate me. We can do this y/n, it won’t be easy I know, but I’m ready to try. If you are?”
“Jae? Jae honey.”
You quietly walked over to your sons bed, squatting next to his sleeping frame. Smiling to yourself as you brushed some of his hair out of his face. He always has been a heavy sleeper.
Gently you rubbed his chest, calling his name again, laughing as he stretched and yawned wide. “Hi honey. Did you sleep okay?”
He nodded as he sat up, immediately wrapping his arms around you and resting his head on your shoulder, still in his half sleepy state. You smiled to yourself, taking a deep breath before sitting him on the bed in front of you to talk to him.
“Jaewon, mommy has something to tell you. It’s a bit of a surprise. Are you awake?”
You joked with him as he giggled, nodding his head as he looked up at you, patiently waiting for what you had to tell him.
“There’s someone special I want you to meet, you’ve wanted to meet him for awhile too.” His eyes went a bit wide as he looked up at you, waking up a bit faster as he tried to think of who it could be.
“Is, is it daddy?”
You nodded your head as he smiled wide, practically jumping off of his bed with excitement, in return making you smile. Picking him up, you walked him out of his room and into the hallway, your heart beating rapidly at how nervous you were. But you were hopeful that Jae would accept Yongguk as his father.
“You ready to meet your dad?” Jae nodded as his smile still hadn’t left his lips. “Okay, he’s sitting on the couch. He’s excited to meet you too, go ahead in and meet him.”
Setting Jae on the ground, he took off running, stopping as he got to the couch, standing in front of Yongguk, a bit shocked at first. “Y-Yongguk? You’re my daddy?”
Yongguk was practically in tears, you could see how much this meant to him, how much he had wanted to hear Jae call him dad. You watched from the doorway, not being able to control your own tears that began to form.
“Yes Jae, I’m your dad. And, I’m sorry it took so long to tell you. We just wanted things to be perfect.”
Yongguk smiled as Jae’s demeanor had changed a bit, and he was more relaxed, looking over at you almost in disbelief. “Mommy, he, he’s really my daddy?”
Both you and Yongguk laughed as you now walked in, sitting down next to him before taking his hand in yours. “Yes Jae, Yongguk is your dad. I’m sorry it took so long for you to find out, but, now we can be a family.” Yongguk smiled at you as he squeezed your hand reassuringly. “The three of us.”
Jae’s smile had gotten so wide you were sure he’d be sore. And for a second, you thought he was crying he was so happy. Without saying a word, Jae threw his arm around Yongguk, hugging him tight. Yongguk just looked at you shocked, before wrapping his arms around Jae, his whole body relaxing as he let out a sigh of relief.
You smiled as you watched the two of them, your heartbeat finally slowing down. And a weight that you felt like you had been carrying for the past three years, was finally lifted from your shoulders.
Parker
Like most important things, it begins over breakfast.
2D is feeling unusually peppy this morning, waking up before his boyfriend for once. He yawns contentedly, stretching, then heaves himself out of bed with difficulty. He pads to the closet and slips his dressing gown on over his nude, comparatively chubby body.
A loud snore interrupts his vague thoughts, and he smiles over at the lumpy pile of blankets that hide his boyfriend. 2D shuffles over to Stu's side of the bed and tries to bend down to kiss his cheek, then winces and rubs his lower back as a small spike of pain shoots up his spine. He rests a hand on his bulging stomach. "Always in the way, ain't ya, love?" he whispers affectionately to Parker as he quietly makes his way into the living room.
He lets the puppies out to play and do their business in the garden, giggling a bit as they blink bewilderedly at the slight sting of frost on their little paws. After bringing them all back in and pouring their food into their bowls (only spilling a small amount), he has the brilliant idea of making breakfast in bed for Stuart.
Humming to himself, he scrambles some eggs, makes toast, even fries a bit of bacon. 'E's gonna be so surprised, 2D thinks, smiling. A lovely breakfast, the dogs already taken care of so there's no rush to get out of bed...maybe they'll even have a bit of time to fool around before heading to the studio. He lays their food out on a tray and carefully carries it into their bedroom, intending to wake Stu with either the delicious aroma or with a kiss– a successful one this time.
Instead, Stuart wakes to the sound of a loud, sudden gasp of pain, followed by the clatter of a tray full of food falling to the floor. He sits bolt upright, eyes still sleepy but alert with panic. "Bluebird, what's–"
One look at his boyfriend's face is all he needs in order to know instantly what's happening. But 2D tells him anyway, voice trembling in pain, fear, and overjoyed excitement as he rests a shaking hand on his stomach.
"S-Stu...she's comin'. Our– our baby's on her way."
By this time, they’ve reached the hospital. Stu skids to a stop, parks, and rushes over to 2D’s side of the car to help him out. “C'mon, love, we’re here, it’s okay, holy shit, it’s gonna be okay…”
His boyfriend nods, clutching his stomach. There are tears in his dark eyes from the painful contractions, but he’s smiling. “D-don’t let g-go of my hand, o-o-okay?” he manages.
“Don’t worry. I’m never lettin’ go of ya, bluebird.”
At the hospital, the nurses have put 2D in a wheelchair to make it faster for him to be taken to the delivery room. He’s got a death grip on Stuart’s hand as his boyfriend trots alongside him through the hallways.
“Heh, ’s like the dodgems, innit love?” he mumbles offhandedly. Stu looks at him in bewilderment, so he explains, “The wheelychairs. ’S like– ah!” He cringes as another contraction sends a jolt of pain through his body.
“Sure, love. Just– just hold on, yeah?”
2D, pale and panting, is wheeled into the delivery room. Stu keeps clutching his hand as he’s laid down.
“Okay, the procedure will take about an hour,” the doctor tells them as the IV, catheter, and screen are set up. “The anesthesiologist will be here soon, so you won’t have to worry about any pain.”
“Where’s ev'ryone?” 2D mumbles as the anesthesia starts taking effect.
“They’re on their way, sweetheart.” Stu kisses his forehead as the doctor prepares him for the surgery. “They’ll be in the waitin’ room, and then once Parker is all set and safe– oh my god I still can’t believe this is happening– once Parker is finally in your arms they can come in and see ya.”
“It…it feels funny.” 2D’s eyes, already hard to get a read on, are a bit glassy from the anesthesia. His breathing has slowed to a normal rate and he’s feeling a bit calmer– as opposed to his boyfriend, whose heart feels like it’s going to burst out of his chest.
“It d-doesn’t hurt, does it? They said it wouldn’t hurt!” He glares accusingly at the doctors.
2D pats his cheek in a reassuring way. “Nah, it don’t hurt. Just…a funny pinchin’ feelin’. You're– you’re squeezin’ me hand too tight, love.”
“S-sorry.” He loosens his grip, but only a little. “I’m just worried and excited and– r-right, that probably isn’t helpin’ you. Right. Just– breathe with me, yeah?”
His boyfriend smiles. “Yeah.”
And then they hear her. A high, piercing wail. 2D gasps and Stuart’s vicelike grip on his hand loosens in joy and relief.
She’s tiny and wrinkled and red, screaming her little lungs out as the doctor gently lifts her. “Mr. Pot, would you like to cut the cord?” she asks, smiling. Stuart can barely nod. His hands tremble as he carefully cuts the umbilical cord with the instrument handed to him.
“Stu, she's– she’s perfect,” 2D whispers. “She’s ours, a-and she’s here, and she’s perfect.” Stuart can’t hold back a small, undignified sob as he and his boyfriend look wonderingly at their daughter.
Her face is somewhat red and squashed-looking, but it’s already clear that she’s inherited her fathers’ thick eyebrows. She has 2D’s pre-accident brown eyes, Stuart’s long, slightly upturned nose– and a downy thatch of light blue hair. She blinks up at them, squinting.
“Welcome to the world, Miss Parker.”
The entire time the incision in 2D’s lower stomach is being stitched up, he’s a fidgety mess. “Where is she? I wanna see ‘er!”
“She’s being cleaned up and stabilized, Mr. Pot,” the doctor tells him. “You’ll be able to hold her soon, don’t worry. And we need to make sure you’re all set, too.”
2D frowns. “I’m fine! Why’s it takin’ so long?!”
“We need to conduct some tests to make sure she’s healthy. It’ll only be a few more minutes.” She puts her tools down. “Okay, it’s safe for you to try and sit up now.”
He does, with his boyfriend’s help. Just as he leans upright against the headboard, a nurse comes in holding Parker. She’s swaddled up in clean, soft blankets, brown eyes half-lidded and tiny lips pursed.
“She’s quite healthy,” the nurse informs them. “Six pounds, one ounce, and a healthy set of lungs. The only problem is her hearing.”
Stuart nods, unable to take his eyes off the tiny human they’ve created. “Yeah, w-we knew she’d be deaf.”
“Actually, no.” Both blue-haired men shoot their heads up. “From the initial tests, it appears she’s only deaf in her right ear. As she ages, even that may change.”
2D lets out a small, happy sob as an incredulous grin spreads across Stu’s face. “She…she can hear us?” The nurse nods, carefully handing Parker to 2D.
2D cradles her close. “Hullo, love,” he whispers. “It’s real, real nice t'meet ya. We’re your dads.”
Shortly after 2D falls asleep, Stuart’s leg starts jiggling. He’d had to use the bathroom since that morning– obviously, the circumstances of their morning had put his bladder completely out of his mind. But now that all three Pots were at the hospital, safe and happy and healthy, he finds himself shifting uncomfortably in his chair. Regretfully, he stands up, Parker cradled safely in his arms, and goes to find a nurse to take the baby for a short time.
After he’s come back from the toilet, he’s greeted by the sight of a still dozy 2D, who smiles groggily at him. “Where’s th’ baby?” he asks upon seeing Stuart’s empty arms.
He lies down next to his boyfriend– luckily the beds are large enough for two in the maternity ward– and kisses his cheek. “She’s with the nurse. You can go back to sleep, bluebird, ya don’t have to worry about anythin’.”
2D sighs, snuggling comfortably up next to him. “Ahh…’m so lucky, Stu. Lucky to ‘ave you, lucky to 'ave Parker…’m so happy, I could jus’ burst.”
“Thought you already did that a few hours ago.”
He snorts and tucks his head against Stuart’s neck. “Gross. ’S more magical than that, love.”
And that’s the word for it, thinks Stuart. Magical. Magical that he and 2D had met, magical that he had gotten pregnant– actually, literally magical– and now with the uncomplicated birth, not to mention her hearing loss being loads less severe than they’d anticipated. It really was like the universe had come together to make all this happen for the two of them…for the three of them. And he couldn’t be more grateful.
